I'm not sure. But usually it's all based in his basic training in Wushu...

When he's jumping all over the place i think it's supposed to be using sum of the principles of JKD the same with the scenes where he is trainin with the other students showing them new things he has picked up from the japanese and added to his style.
I think he's just usin wot style or mixture of techniques he is finding effective @ that given moment???

I don't know about the jumping part. Don't recall that part. But this movie and CTHD are my favorite martial arts movies. At several points in the movie Jet Li switches to muay thai. His father-in-law goes from karate to muay thai. Very cool.
Yes, this is one of my fav movies too. i love the first scene in the classroom. "Ich, Nee, Sun...AARHHH!!"(Jet punches guy in the face).
I think he's combined a few styles in this movie though. It looks really cool.

The fighting style is called, I believe, 'extremely fast camera angle changing and short attention span editing to make 4 days work look like a 45 second fight'
Watch it again and count the number of times the camera changes :)
Great MA movie though. I liked the old Japanese guy punching the straw :)

Based on the comments in this thread, I bought this movie through Amazon.uk.co. Watched last night. Awesome. Loved it. I liked CTHD and Hero, but it was refreshing not to have to watch people flying through the air all the time.
Good story, OK acting, plenty of action and lots of well choreographed fight scenes. What more could you ask for!!!

Yes, Jet Li versus his movie father-in-law is the best h2h fight I've ever seen in a movie. And Jet Li fighting his school friend was good too. Nice movie.
