View Full Version : New AusMap! Where?

Where would another Ausmap be held? Pick which locations you think you could get to if you had a couple of months notice and it was in the latter part of the year. (Oct/Nov)
I am prepared to organise one in Townsville if people are prepared to come that far. If not, we can wait and see who is interested and where everyone can get to.

I voted for Sydeny primarily for the fact thats where I am. I would be happy to travel pretty much anywhere though. I wouldnt be able to get out of work until 2006 :( however.

I vote for Sydney.
While I sure all the Australian members would love you to come, voting by people overseas will distort our poll. We want to know where it best for us Aussies. If you lucky enough to be coming from overseas you will be able to get a connecting flights to all of these locations.
Of course Kwaj you have to come now, otherwise we will all be badly disappointed! :(
I knew it was a good idea to show who voted! :)

Nah, you pay for that on Qantas too. Just soft drinks are free. That is economy class anyway.
Still looking like Brisbane. most people can get a direct flight to there or are locals. We will have to see what happens with the poll over the next month. (It is time limited!)
Everyone should think of how they would like to have things run on the day. Training, food, drinks and all, maybe even a night out!
NaughtyKnight
18-Apr-2005, 01:45 PM
Im down for Brisbane. I'll have a year off the whole of 2006. I've been saving all this year. Gonna have some rest before starting Uni.
I'll be gone for World Cup in Germany though, so hopefully it will be end of year.
The days events should be done like this.

BBQ- more booze
more training (or try anyway :D)

Yeah, those hook turns are a bit of a worry for us interstate drivers. Still it allows them to keep the trams in the city so I'll forgive them for it. :)
Not that I drive much when I'm in Melbourne, use taxi's or trains to avoid those hook turns when I go into the city. Much safer for everone and less stress for me in holiday mode! :D

Geesh.... A few days a way from the pc and sydney is suddenly back in the running. I finally add my vote to Brisbane as I think this is going to be the location the largest group can get to. ( And to keep us Qlder's ahead of those blue mexican cockroaches!)
Still we could get both groups together in their own cities. Maybe even a small one in north Queensland, say at a nice beach with a pub close by! Cardwell? Would be a good saturday trip for the family Badger!
Actually the beach location thing is a good idea. No hire fees and most will have picnic areas with BBQ's. If we keep the costs down we'll all have money for the important part at the end!
Re-hydrating....
with BEER!

Much cheaper and easier to fly ! Trust me, I have driving the east coast enough to know to avoid it when ever possible. As for drinking comps just spill lots! It helps if the other guys twice your size and your losing! Just make sure he buys the ones you spill! :D

Hey, is anyone interested in trying to get a meet happening again, I'm a bit busy to organise one but can turn up anywhere on the east coast with a few week notice. Would mind getting in some training with different people after giving up teaching a few months ago as work was not giving me time to run a club.

Brisbane is easy for me. Sydney or Melbourne also. What we need is somebody how can arrange a venue for a Saturday which we could use to train in. If we could get the use of a training hall already set up, it would be great. Otherwise we do it at a park or beach somewhere. (don't say Surfer's Paradise) I can probably organise one in Townsville but most people are in the south so it should be down there.
I think we should aim to have it after easter to allow everyone to settle into the new year and get over any xmas debts. Any weekend should suffice. We would be able to get by without a lot of gear, although mats would be a great advantage.
Colin, you had a lot to do with the last one, so if you are prepared to do one again, I'll lend as much help as I can from up here.
PS: I think I might pm badger to see if he would like to do one at mission beach (if cyclone damage is sorted now) or some other lovely tropical location.
