Hey there,
Looking at the practice stats from all you guys it seems I'm not doing very much at all...although, okay, I'm at the moment only concentrating on one MA. I could put in a total of six hours if I wanted too (which would include Monday kata class, two hours Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and Sunday)but since I used to coach before in another sport I know how important rest days are in between. Thats why I limit myself to about three to four hours. Tomorrow will be another double hour lesson and I know something, I'm definitley going to be dead after that !

I train in the dojang 2 days a week (3.5 hours sunday, 1.5 tuesday) and 3 days a week on my own for an hour or so. It's been tough to find all the time I want to train since getting a regular full time job and a fiancee.

I practice Shotokan for about 3-4 hours a week in class then maybe another hour a week at home. I also am into Jiu Jitsu and I do strength training/ weightlifting about 3 more hours total per week. Not too mention cardio everyday. I would say about 9-10 hours total a week spent towards MA.

We've got a gym in the same building as our kwoon now so the timetable has been lengthened slightly. My weekly kung fu is now:
6 hours of Hsing-I lessons
5 hours of Shaolin Splashing Hands lessons
5-10 minutes training each day (Hsing-I forms, Splashing Hands punch drilling..)
So I reckon I do about 11 hours kung fu a week, which isn't enough to kill me, but it tries. :D

It's good to see so many people who train so much. It makes me feel a little less insane. :p
A slow, normal schedule-
Monday and Wednesday: I teach kickboxing for 2 hours, 1 hr JKD, 1 hr Kali
Fri: 1 hour open training
Sat: 1 hour Filipino Boxing
Fight Training schedule-
same as above but add 2-3 hours more training for whatever event on each of those days and Sunday. Oy!

I will be spending almost 20 hours of martial arts (just in practice) if my new class schedule works out. Plus I'm going to join a gym and start taking an hour a day (5 days a week) to do cardio and weightlifting. Plus, I will probably be doing stuff on my own too (I spend most of my free time practicing martial arts).

I train officially 3hrs per week, my instructor is trying to find somewhere, where we can have a 2hr training session, the only reason that i can fit that into my 'family' time is that my daughter trains with me.
I'm self employed and work from home so normally i can rearrange my schedule to fit in the time to spend 1hr per day on yoga and pilates.

I train in my primary art's dojo for at least 3 hours a week over two days with varying amounts of solo (kata, movement, meditation) practice every other day, so up to about 7 hours a week. I also do Qigong class for 1 hour a week, and practice Qigong solo for about an hour every morning, so about 7 hours a week for that as well.

Right now. . . .
Mondays: Nothing cuz of Work
Tuesdays: 7-8 Basic Kickboxing, 8-9 Heavy Bagwork/focus mitts/partner drills
Wednesdays: 6-7 Basic Boxing, 7-8:30 Submission Wrestling, 8:30-9 heavy bagwork/focus mitts/partner drills and/or more submissions
Thursdays: Nothing cuz of Work
Fridays: 5-6 Focus Mitts, 6-7:15 Pankration OR Heavy Bagwork, 7:15-8 heavy bagwork
Saturdays: 1-3 Heavy Bagwork/Focus Mitts/Partners
Sundays: I usually run 4-5 miles up and down these HUGE hills (I live in a high altitude). I also use Sundays to practice nothing but my kung fu, forms, limb knocking, horse stance, and pure CLF for that day. Oh yeah and usually like 1 hour of bagwork.
Now I hear you scream I've practically given up on my CLF. . . . . not true, not true at all my friend. At my MMA gym I work the heavy bag with CLF techniques, I shadowbox with CLF techniques, I pretty much use CLF as my basis for everything. MMA is merely a training ground and an area where martial and physical development is brought to an extremely high degree.
Plus once winter passes and the road isn't slippery anymore I'm gonna go to Kung Fu on Fridays or even more. . . . . dunno yet gotta check my bank account. :p
Usually between 12 and 14 hours a week though. . . . . . I'm trying to step it up. Also when the official Muay Thai classes are open to me I'll be doing approximately 2 more hours a week.

How many hours a week do you practice MA's ? Three, four or more hours ?
Just wondering as I do about three to four hours a week.
Christian
3-4 hrs per week? Wow i think that is as minimum training as it gets. Good enough if u train for fun/leisure or very busy. Me personally, mon,wed & Sat evening TKD class = 4 hrs, Shorinji Kempo night class tue & thu = 4 hrs, personal training 2hrs x 4days = 8 hrs, so all in all about 16 hrs a week. I just really enjoy my training and passionate about it.
My daily routine:
5am - 6am I jog/sprints
8am - 10am I stretch low body (waist down) and work with bags
1pm - 2pm I stretch my uperbody and work with bags
4pm - 4:30pm I stretch whatever part of my body I feel needs to be stretched again
6pm - 8:30pm I spar with friends
9pm - 10pm I stretch my whole body again
I just recently decided to work on my own (training 10 years in Chun Kuk Do) I felt i would be more effective by myself.

Too right man & how about families? How much free time do these guys have? Jeez, I get up at 6am & get home at 7pm!
I do 2 hours a week with my instructor. This is one on one and mostly contact training. I probably do 2 hours on a Saturday and Sunday too, and maybe an hour or 2 extra in the week. So, probably 4-8 hours to be realistic.
The rest of the time I'm at work, eating, asleep, entertaining my son & 'entertaining' the Mrs.
Then I have to fit in playing guitar, going to gigs and very occasionaly going out.

2 hours at the Muay Thai academy on Monday,Wednesday and Friday, an hour and a half of Judo on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, then I train in Aiki' Jujutsu at school. That's an hour and fifteen minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I joined the Aiki' Jujutsu club that the sensei runs, but we don't meet too often. On Mondays and Wednesdays I go straight from Muay Thai to the Judo club I'm in. Muay Thai ends at 7:30 and Judo starts at 8. Luckily the two places are only 10 minutes or so from each other.
That's 6 hours of Muay Thai, 4.5 hours of Judo and 2.5 hours of Aiki' Jujutsu per week. About 13 hours per week. One of the problems is that my girlfriend lives 30 miles away from me, so I can't just go see her whenever I want. Sometimes I have to sacrifice training on Wednesdays so that I can go see her. It's well worth it though :)

IMHO, its better to practice 15-30 minutes everyday, I meant everyday! If you are sick or unable physically practice than you can practice in your mind. After you build this habit, any extra practice would be helpfull. If you started strong ie; 4 hours/class and two or three time per week. I will guarranty you that you WILL NOT be able to maintain this regiment. The moment you miss one or two classes, the easier would be to miss the next one. Make it habitual my friends.

3 Hours Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. Usually around 5 Saturday.
