How do you do them? Me, I run. Wales is nothing if not a naturally occuring obstacle course. But I am of course open to all the suggestions anyone can give...

-What are you trying to achieve? Running can be good for cardio and for muscular endurance. There are other ways of achieving this that can be easier on your joints, though. If your goal is more speed and power or flexability, running is not very effective in these areas. State your goals and we can help.

OK: cardio and running ability is one area I'm improving. Strength is secondary at the moment. But as I say, I think the hills help with that. I may be wrong.

Two pix from my website should just about give you an idea of what I do for legs....

wow that looks like lots of fun. Sure wish I had some nice running grounds here in my overly commerical little suberb.

Oh yeah and as for what I do for my legs, pilates, running, weight work and the whole standing on one leg thing for long amounts of time while doing kicking drills.
Unfortunately while my legs have always been muscular they have also always been a bit chubby, I need to do more running.

Squat 'em

Move 'em [run, sprint etc etc]

Kill 'em

Wear a lycra, show 'em to your mates and enjoy :D

Mabe we could trade some favourite runs. The one I currently favour is a five-mile course over hilly terrain, especially a final hill of 1/4-1/2 miles which has in the past made me physically sick, after coping with all the other ones. I like to crawl through ditches, jump over streams and climb trees on the way...

Sounds fun - ever been over Penn-y-Fan? aka The Fan Dance? :D

I have not done that. It's not close enough to me to walk and an awkward car journey. Some day.... P.S. Did I mention your workout rocks?

Yoda... absolutely breathtaking!! ...(literally!!:D ...)

.... I love to run the length of the beach in the warm sand barefoot! ... and then dive into the water for a swim back!!

This and years and years of squats in horsestance and kicking drills have blessed me with a good pair of "legs"!!

-Hey Yoda, tell the scrawny bald guy in your pics to put some more weight on, it might cure his chicken legs.:D :D LOL. Just teasing you. From what I've read from both your posts and your profile and website, you are a dedicated trainer and very knowledgable in fitness. -To Errant, actually as far as running hills for strengthening legs; it's not a very good method. Muscular endurance: yes. Cardio: yes, but really there is a point of diminished returns both in fat burning(BMR) and oxygen uptake. Other than your own enjoyment of pushing yourself, you are probably doing too much volume here. Yoda gave you some good advice for the strength training(though I prefer stiff-leg deadlifts over regular for bicep femoris).

-PS-To Yoda, I probably should not have teased you since I don't really know you well. I doubt you took it as disrespectful given the way you kid around with others around here. Still, I should not make assuptions, espescially since I don't know if you have things that you may be sensetive about, ect.
