Hi, I was just wondering if N E one out there does karate-jitsu. It's a combination of a few styles and not many people have heard of it. It uses mostly Ju-jitsu techniques but there are no weopons used. If N E does then please contact me.

I would say it is the same, just as some would spell Ju Jutsu and some Ju Jitsu, they are the same thing, kind of like Kenpo and Kempo, same thing, different spellings.

Paul, different romanization, same word
Funakoshi introduced karate to japan as "ryukyu kempo karate-jitsu"
But like most japanese arts the "-do" replaced the "-jitsu".
What you probably have is someone trying to distinguish there karate from everyone elses and make it sound more combative

Karate Jutsu Kai is a splinter or offshoot of Kyokushinkai and the school is well respected. Shihan Bernard Creton is probably one of the best fighters and most knowledgable men alive today and it is an honour to know such a man as well as have been a student.

I think I've heard rumours... Is it like where you first acquire a bunch of karate skills i.e. distance, timing, targetting of techniques, then learn a bit of jj and look at the kata and piece together a load of cool jj-ish techniques? is it?

sorry but these "rumours" are like clouds in the sky. Jutsu meaning the art of, and Karate Jutsu is the art of karate. But remember there is a distinct differnce between that of Jutsu and that of Do. We all read from books but actually partaking in the event is more important. We learn from experience and only a fool would be seen to close his his to life.

The word "Jutsu" implies the study if the technical aspects of an art in a specific manner definitely pacing emphasis in the practicality of the art as being its essence. Karate in its original form was first referred to as "Karate Jutsu" by the council of leaders of the various schools practising on Okinawa.

Well, yeah, but the implication in the article is that the original karate good stuff was similair to what you get if you do what RR suggests. Does this have any foundation in reality?

Over time.
KJ is good but its a hybrid and only as good as the person teaching its ability to blend!

Hi,
I trained with a group of Karate Jutsu guys in Hastings. Very little difference from Kyokushin...same good points same bad points. All the guys and girls I trained with were pretty proficiant kickboxers too.

That might be the difference between that one and the one I did.

Hi Stump,
Know the Hastings mob very well, you are very right there with the Kyokushin. Not only are they proficiant in what they do but in a nut shell, its taking Kyokushin to another level. The same applies to Jiyuseishin and that of Seido, they have matured into the next stage of the arts.
Hi Sonshu,
You are also correct in that its a hybrid, and like all good cross-bred dogs, they bite back...Any art form is as good as the person teaching it and this applies to all.

jutsu-kai is a fantastic fighting system
it is only let down by the so called commitee members, these are the people who have nothing to do with the training or the teaching of this fighting art
these are just the people who take your money and talk a good fight but infact have never trained in there lives.
