considering the dangerius nature of the sport id suggest that you do have some general knowledge of first aid...

I'm a first aider and I've also been on the tv with it as well and it keeps being repeated on sky. I'm not saying which programme as I feel really embarrased by it as if you see me on it I'm saying a naughty word when I realise the camera is there and they've still kept that one in lol :D :D :D

I was in Boy Scouts when I was first taught first aid. From basics to survival, I had to learn it. Now I'm being taught again in U.S. Army JROTC.

I make my living as a firefighter, and in the US most proffesional f/f are EMT or paramedic. SO the simple answer is yes..and I use it all the time.

Had a chance to do a first aid course some years ago while captaining my University Volleyball team and being part of the "Sports Council"...but didn't do it as it interfeared with my holidays. Found out when you get to black belt you are required to do one so might do it at some point in the near future. Who do you contact to do a first aid course ? And how much does it cost ?

Was a Quarter Master and First Aider in the British Red Cross, so did have me first aid but that run out a while ago now. Shame really - But I wanted to spend me time training as opposed to waiting for some one to fall over at a horse rally or a crush victim from a concert.

I've had the St John's Ambulance First Aid at Work certificate for five years now. You have to requalify every two years. Luckily, all I've ever used it for is to say, "sit there while I call an ambulance".

Did a first aid course when I was much younger, but looking to get another one done that has...a little more weight. *cough* If you're looking to take MA as far as you can, it can't hurt, right?

Take care,

Not really, but I have plans for taking one next month incidentally.

I was certified to become a lifeguard in Australia a couple of years back, so I know things like deep water resuscitation and aquatic spinal case rescue. I know EAR, CPR and how to treat open wounds, etc but I haven't got the cert for actual "first aid".

Started taking First Aid & CPR when I was ~ 12, for my babysitting business. Then my Sophomore year in high school we were required to take it as part of our PE curriculum.

I was not recertified through the rest of high school or college, but when I started this job ~ 5 years ago, I joined the corporate first responder team. First Aid, CPR, and AED certified with quarterly refreshes... so we get to suck face with the manniquins again next week.

And now that I'm in the instructor training at my dojang, apparently they'll bring people in for certification there, too.

I keep thinking about further training, but haven't signed up for any yet.

Yep. My mom, who's an RN, used to teach lots of first aid classes and I'd help her out. She instructed adults in human and animal CPR, as well as basic first aid for both parties. I learned a lot.

How I got my start Kris. Since then I had to learn emergency first aid (also known as First Responder) and re-certify in CPR every year while I was in Law Enforcement.

Find it pretty easy..maybe we got drilled so much (people often say they cant believe how much certification a guard needs lol)

When I got certified for CPR they told us that the number of chest compressions was being changed. I was taught 15 compressions to every 2 breaths in an adult. But, they said that when we get recertified we might have to do 30 instead of 15. Were any of you told this when you got certified.
