Self Defense for Children

Curious to see what everyone's view is on this one:

What are some self defense tips/tactics/strategies that you feel are necessary for children to learn in say some of the "worst case scenarios"

the basics of striking, but most definately some grappling, know how to clinch, how to deal with a knife, and know when to use the Nike Defense know when to RUN!!
if there are 3 guys with knives and some dumb kid says "I'll take you all on" when he has the option to run and gets stabbed to death, i won't feel the slightest bit sad.
