it's a better version of "the mystic arts of the ninja"

it covers your typical stuff in a ninja book.

1. origin

2. unarmed combat (pictures)

3. weapons combat (pictures)

4. camoflauge and stealth

5. philosophy

6. some stories about what it was like to train with hatsumi... and some random stuff

it's a much better book then "mystic arts" but they're pretty much the same book. hope ya like it

It's a decent book. Outdated and has a few minor "inaccuracies" mainly put down to the fact that that was the information being given at the time. The book os more about Mr. Hayes personal journey and the why and how he came into this art. Still a good book and I recommend it.

Honestly, I know nothing about the book itself, but I would tend not to trust a book calling itself the "secret art" of anything.

Don't let the title throw you off. At the time it was written, little was known about the fighting style of ninjutsu. The book is actually quite good, taken as a sort of "biography" or Mr. Hayes' journey and training.

I agree Kurohana.

This definitly isn't "How to be a Ninja assassin in three easy steps" type book.

It's more like a friend telling you about their training experience over-seas.

i rate it highly as a book which presents alot of valuable info on the art.

As Kurohana says, it is out-dated, but in an art with over 1000yrs history, 20years isn't all that long and much of what SKH presents is still valid.

As they say, don't judge a book by it's cover (or its title); judge it by how much it enlightens your mind

it reads almost like a journal. featuring a lot of annotated notes from audio interviews.
almost journalistic, but then with lots of personal comments from mr hayes.
gonzo i suppose.
hayes loves this stuff and it shows. for me that enthusiasm alone makes it a good read.

some great photos and it goes into quite a bit of detail.

i'd recommend it
