So deep thinking MAPers....

What do you make of the Lacanian "I think where I am not, therefore I am where I do not think."

Pretty insightful

This at 5pm on a Friday?

The pub awaits - that's all the philosophy I need right now. It's my wife's bday today. Let the celebrations begin!

:D :D :D

yeah... just a quick, basic guess now, but I'll be back later...

Imagination.

Ok, that's it. But I'll be back to give it more thought later.

Eh?

It's not a question looking for an answer - it's a statement looking for discussion :p

could mean that you only really think in your deep sub concious but because it is sub concious you don't really know about it.
but that is where your true self lies.

just a thought

That's pretty much how I interpret it.

Now then - how can we use this knowledge? Indeed - should we?

I think that some of it must come out at some point whether willingly or otherwise the other stuff who knows.
i'm sure a lot of stuff in there really shouldn't come out.

Our sub-concious must hide a multitude of forgotten untamed thoughts & is(more than likely) the wild animal within. Therefore it should perhaps be controlled rather than locked away & used in a positive manner; as when the sub-concious spills over into the concious without control it can have disastrous consequences.;)

We must use it, How?........with control, certainly!

Surely if we use in conciously then it ceases to be subconscious?

But we do things sub-conciously all the time - just simple things, the sub-concious has it's way of rearing it's head.

I would say our sub-concious goes deep, but some thoughts/information are not so deeply buried as others. The hard drive that is our brain keeps record of what important & not so, systematically storing either to the concious or sub-concious but is still able to recall the deepest information when/if needed even if it takes a lot of effort to get it.

So surely the two co-exist & work as a co-operative.:)
