Hi I've been studying MA for a while and thought I'd try boxing last night as a new club has just started in my area and I must say it was awesome the training was tough unlike my MA training in my old school.I used to dispise boxing as just throwing punches but its much more than that!there is realy a MA side to it and technique.I'm gonna carry on with boxing it's more suited to me in my opinion as I have a lot of uper body strength unlike my lower half.
well just thought I'd say my view.

Funnily enough, I'm beginning to think the same. I'm kind of in limbo at the moment. Been doing MMA for a few months on and of but am not sure where my future lays. I come from a boxing background where I used to have some pretty good skills/power. Because I'm not doing alot of either and training MMA I'm now not very good at both? my boxing skills have slipped alot, not thanks to a hand injury which leaves me uncommitted in attcks..anyway, thats another story. I'm giving alot of thought of going back to boxing as thats the sport I used to excel at.

From a different perspective, alot of MA just don't get boxing or the skills involved. In my opinion also, its the #1 self defense sport in the world. If you've no stand up/ boxing, what you gonna do? take 2 guys to the ground and armbar them? your gonna get hurt. In those now rare situations, boxing has yet to let me down. As a sport though, I'm beginning to miss it. I'm getting tired of having people laying on top of me. I find it all confusing. Lets just get the gloves on and fire away and see who's the man :woo: :D blaaa, my ground game sucks....bo ho :D

Nice one :) Keep it up!

Personally, I rate boxing as one of the better styles for self defense out there; along with a good deal of conditioning of course.

Boxing is a sweet science, definately a lot more than what meets the eye.
