Hi all...

Came across this photo from an obscure book about the photographs taken by a Paisley Plumber in the 1880's.... :eek:

Stickfighting was at it's height in Victorian times and this photo shows a group of enthusiasts somewhere in the West Coast of Scotland, engaged in a bout with their walking sticks. Hats and thick coats are their only protection!

[QUOTE=Louie]Hi all...

Another photograph taken by the Paisley Plumber in the 1880's.... :eek:

Always on the lookout for a good location to hold a single-stick bout the gentlemen prepare to fight beside Staneley Castle!

My dad has a book about sport in Glasgow in the 1800s and it has a picture of two men stick fighting in a similar situation to this in a Glasgow park.

Scan it and post it up here (along w/ details on the book - author, publish date, etc.).

Cross post it to the yahoo groups [Singlestick] forum too (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/singlestick)

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk
