Everything since then has kinda blended into "more of the same"

Both are great. The trooper is probably one of my favorite riffs ever. Downfall by CoB is up there too.

I love them. But I understand what people mean about them being a bit samey. They have found a forumla, and have not strayed from it at all. But Metallica experimented, and they are flamed as a result. Devil and the deep blue sea.
I think though that the new lineup with 3 guitarists is fantastic, and after a poor spell with Blaze (who once I heard had joined I was looking forward to cos of his live stuff with Wolfsbane), I think they are now back on form. I am certainly waiting for them to tour so that I can go and see them live.

Yo, love'em both. But yeah, don't really dig their stuff after Powerslave. Children of Bodom are great too, Wildchild's a genius, but he ain't no Herman Li ;)

I worship IRON MAIDEN and have a deep respect for all of their work. For those of you who gave up after "Powerslave" - for shame!! You have missed out on one of their finest, most brilliantly crafted albums in "Brave New World" - which signalled the return of Bruce "Air Raid Siren" Dickenson on vocals. It was released in 2000 and has slowly become one of my personal favourite albums they have ever done.
I implore you to check it out ... you won't be disappointed, trust me!
As for CHILDREN OF BODOM, I have all of their albums and I quite like them, but don't listen to them often.

Iron Maiden = , truely does. Children of bodom though is more like :woo:, yeah they are truely awsome musicians but they rather annoy me after a while, well its mainly the singing ot be honest.

I like Iron Maiden, especially the effort they seem to put into the twin lead guitar solos. It sounds like they kinda picked up where Thin Lizzy left off. Never heard of Children of Bodom, I'll have to have a listen.

IRON MAIDEN were the band who got me into metal, when I was a kid back in the early 90's. To this day, "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" is my favourite album, probably because it was their most experimental and challenging.
I can understand the "samey" comments, as they kinda stopped experimenting after "Seventh Son". But credit where it's due, they have stuck to their guns and never sold-out to anyone. Unlike POPtallica, who completely forgot their roots and sold their asses for the almighty dollar. :woo:
It was shocking to hear of the O$$fe$t incident with $haron O$bourne, but the fact MAIDEN blew SABBATH off stage every single night tells you two things: Firstly, that has-been O$bourne should have retired years ago and secondly, that even in the face of adversity, MAIDEN triumph over all. They are a credit to heavy metal and are an institution. Since MAIDEN, only PARADISE LOST have flown the flag for British metal convincingly.
