Okay i wasn't sure whether to put this in the jokes section or not but i thought that was taking it a bit too far.
After watch a behind the scenes thing for matrix reloaded they were talking about the martial arts used in the film. about how long the trained etc etc.
They then talk to Joel Silver(producer) who says he has worked with Keanu Reeves and Jet Li and he thinks that Keanu could take jet in a fight.
personally i think he's talking out of his arse but what do you think?

After watching the Matrix last night I've seen what Keanu can do, easily kick Jets arse!

Theres too many computer animations and wires in the modern MA movies. But I would say Li probably has more ability than Reeves going on what I have seen. I reckon Reeves would look pretty average if his fight scenes were played in real time whereas Li could probably get away with it.

What you have got to remember is that Li is a martial artist before and actor he's trained since he was 4 so i think his ability is quite real

Well I dont know the guy and I've never seen him in the flesh. But what I meant was Li's films dont use as many effects as is used in the matrix and therefore Li would most probably be the better MA.

YEAH RIGHT...............Jet LI studies martial arts almost all his life, and Keanu Reeves studies for a year or so course he could take him...............In the words of jim royle "MY ARSE!"

What, do you think you need to be a MA to be able to fight?
Anybody can beat anybody at any given time

Dunno who Jim Royle is (Royle Family soap?), but I like his style.
Let's invite him to join the forum ;)
John Doc, you really need to check out some Jet Li flicks mate. Like Jackie Chan, his earlier raw sub-titled movies contain the best footage. The guy moves like nothing on earth. He's like Matrix without the need for FX. He had a cameo in Lethal Weapon 4.

Thats what Iam trying to say. Theres so many effects in films nowadays that KR will look good even if he is not.
I've seen quite a few JL movies (Loved the Hitman) and I know what you mean.
But it still doesnt mean one will beat the other in areal fight.

I read an article with the same interview with Silver, they then asked KR the same question, his response? "No way, he's been training since he was 4 years old." Mr. Reeves even knows the Li could soundly trounce him if the occasion deemed. Hmm, wonder how the two of them would do in a movie together? On the same team....

Opening a can of rattlesnakes,
Jet could kick Keanu's arse, Jackie could kick jet's, and Bruce Lee could kick the whole pack out :D
*sits back with the popcorn and awaits the storm*

These two post make a very clear point. Jet is much more experienced. Think about it and do the math. And cain buddy.....I agree with you Although I'm not to sure about the Jet vs Jackie situation;)

here's an idea they should take up have rush hour 3 with chan and tucker as the good guys and Li and Chris Rock as the bad guys that film would rock:D

Jet Li was actually asked to star in The Matrix Reloaded. I don't know his name, but he was supposed to play that Chinese guy that takes Neo to the Oracle. He had to turn it down because he was filming Hero at the time.
Moving on…
I made a post about Mr. Silver’s comments in the Movies section. Maybe Mr. Reeves was able to pick up the movie Kung Fu very well, and did very easily. Where Jet, would proberley have to have a few takes, to get the angles and stuff right. Silver doesn’t seem to be able to separate movie kung fu to real kung fu, this maybe what had him draw the conclusion that Reeves was a better fighter.
But no way, in fight, Reeves would not even see Jet coming. He'd be down before he could raise an arm.

During the filming of the first matrix Reeves was recovering from some back surgery and couldn't even kick higher than his waist without excruciating pain. I am pretty sure that this slowed down him training a bit.
So I would have to give my vote to Li who has trained for more than four years and who has speed without special effects.
I would hope that Silver was referencing that Reeves playing Neo could kick Li's butt, not Reeves outside of a movie.
