i think it's real, i mean what do you want to achieve with it?
if you think you're going to enter the matrix and bust through a concrete wall with your jab then... well I dunno about that....
if you think it could be used to break an attackers bones through either a block or a punch then you're probably on the right track... it would feel unmovable, indestructible and devastating to a person...
this power exists, if you want it I strongly suggest reading up on Yichaun.... Yichaun: Warriors of Stillness is a pretty good one. It's the standing meditations of Tai Chi and it relates to Iron Palm.
Iron Palm is simply the alignment of your body and the ability to direct your energy precisely into a strike. Your hand doesn't turn into iron or anything, but that's what the Yichuan kinda does.
Through the standing meditations you develop this alignment, proper body posture, but also strength. During a stand the student constantly contracts and expands all the muscle groups of the body. This builds strength much like isometric exercises, but it also does other things. It improves the blood circulation and can also make your bones much more dense. This happens because of the mind, that constant thought of expand then contract actually can make your bones expand, although minutely.
This happens through all exercise actually, that's why doctors say weight lifting is good for bones. Only in that situation you're only isolating a small group, whereas in Yichuan it's the WHOLE body.
Through Tai Chi I have seen and believe that the body can get much stronger than wieght lifting (for martial applications) and it can have an amazing effect on your way of life.
look into Yichaun, and you'll find Iron Palm - however to grasp the internal arts they say it takes 10 years. I figure it's worth the time, do it daily for a while and scratch the surface and you'll see a road of nearly unlimited potential.
