How many people use standing armbars or standing chokes in competition? I do my best to slip them in during randori, but it seems to me that the competition rules are so strict that they make the risk not worth the reward. I especially like to try to win in wierd ways; The majority of my favorite moves are sacrifice techniques, and it bugs me to see that Judo is becoming more and more standardized. Sure, people add their own unique twists to their techniques, but they still tend to react the same way as everyone else, and use the same couple combinations. It seems like people are moving more and more towards reacting with drop seoi every time someone extends their arm too much, and forgetting about everything else that can be done. What do you guys think, is Judo just refining itself, and slowly losing the weaker moves, or what?
