On Sunday (18th May) Afternoon we will be launching the redesigned Martial Arts Planet site. We have been working on this new site to :

1) Address the continuing database problems since moving the site to a new server - The new look site uses an updated version of our forum software (vBulletin) which does not seem to suffer from the same issue.

2) Add new features such as personal journals, awards, and an improved chat facility.

3) In the longer term add other features such as a shop facility, and a video section.

Due to the amount of disruption we are currently suffering, we are having to launch the new look site quicker than we had previously been planning. The site will probably not have all the new features enabled, and will possibly have some minor teething problems. However, the main forum will work and be stable from Sunday which we feel is more important at the moment than having every new aspect working 100%.

Thank you for bearing with us on this, and as soon as the new look site is launched, please feel free to let us have your comments on it, as well as any other suggestions which you feel we should incorporate. Please note that there will be disruption to the site on Sunday afternoon as we carry out this update.

James

Hi James, if you can keep us posted on specific from & to's on the down times that'd be good.

Some of the mods get personal mail when the site is down!

Look forward to the new map! :D

(Anyone remember when Map was Blue & White?)

We will do our best to give prior warning, but it will depend on how quickly things go on Sunday, and how early I can get Cooler out of bed following his nightshift (9:00am should be OK). We are sort of planning around a 4:00pm swap, but may bring this forward if everything is working a lot sooner than this (so we can do more testing afterwards)

Once we do the swap, I am hoping to have the forum part of the site back up and running within the hour so disruption should not be too terrible.

6) Drink Beer

Good plan. If the site goes down Sunday evening you'll find us in the pub opposite Coolers flat.
