heres what I am. I was on the first link :D
Peter Farr
Consulting Principal
Skill Set
Peter Farr’s career in Information Technologies has spanned more than 20 years. Peter possesses extensive knowledge of the application of computer system design in Manufacturing, Financial, Pharmaceutical and Service Provider markets. His background includes managing and participating in the full range of project development, particularly planning and designing high-availability networked services, including:
Database systems;
Network/Systems/IP Management and OSS systems and processes;
Internet/Intranet services (mail, news, Web, etc);
Service Management process development; and
Security policy, process and system design.
Peter has a proven track record in highlighting and resolving issues in a diverse, technical environment and coordinating team efforts for installations, upgrades, and problem resolution. He is frequently called upon to develop business requirements and functional specifications and to bridge the gap between technical and business areas. He possesses excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, is goal-oriented, diligent, and resourceful.
Selected Projects and Activities
Legacy Data Migration – When a large Canadian Pharmaceutical company implemented a corporate ERP/MRP system, they needed help with phasing out the ageing and deteriorating legacy systems. The Pharmaceutical industry is highly regulated and the veracity and continuity of their data is paramount. Much of the legacy data is required for legal and government regulatory purposes. Peter developed and executed a process for identifying and documenting the company’s business critical data. For each set of data he developed a risk analysis and recommended a course of action, then created a project plan and data migration, validation and user testing processes. In a second phase of the project, he provided Project Management, performed the migration of much of the data into standardized relational databases, and also built the user reports required to access the data for government regulatory or litigation purposes.
Professional Development Centre, University of Toronto – Peter Farr is a regular lecturer in the Telecommunications Management Certificate program. His current topics include E-Commerce and Internet Security.
Operations Review -- The Securities division of a Canadian “Big Five” Bank needed an objective third party review of their Network Service group to improve the overall processes, availability and time to market of the Securities network.
Peter and an associate were hired to produce a report for the Bank’s senior management that detailed the findings of the study and recommended remedial actions. The approach taken was to understand the challenge of supporting the Securities network and the demands of business activities; to gather insight into how this challenge could be met; and then to provide recommendations and creative ideas on how to improve the support of securities business.
IP Infrastructure Management – A very large multinational manufacturer, based in the United States, decided to integrate the diverse DHCP and DNS infrastructures they had inherited through corporate acquisitions. Peter was hired to develop and execute a plan for the migration of these disparate systems into a single, global infrastructure with central control and distributed administration.
The assignment included developing the technical architecture and project plan, and then rolling the new architecture out across the company’s American, European and Asian sites. In addition to the design and implementation roles, he also acted as Project Manager, pulling together a virtual team of administrators across the world. He developed and delivered administrator training, migrated DHCP and DNS data and services to new systems, and worked with the local administrators in the various regions to ensure a smooth migration to the new infrastructure.
IP Infrastructure Repatriation – One of Canada’s largest Cable MSOs needed help repatriating their IP management infrastructure. Peter’s task was to design and implement an IP management system capable of supporting millions of Internet cable customers with a very high degree of availability.
He developed and implemented the IP management services and processes (including Operations, Support, Billing and Provisioning) the MSO required. In addition to the implementation of the platform, this also required developing custom web-based provisioning and troubleshooting interfaces on a highly customized LDAP service for the Support and Call Centre staff.
The implementation included processes and tools for provisioning based on an LDAP directory system. Much of the success of this project was due to the attention paid to the integration of the new services into existing systems and processes within the MSO. Support calls related to provisioning dropped dramatically after this implementation, which the manager of the Call Centre directly attributed to this project.
IP Services Platform and Applications – A start-up National Canadian CLEC planned to deploy a multi-site distributed ISP service across Canada, and engaged Peter to design the service platforms, develop a rollout plan and manage the team of consultants and internal staff involved in the implementation of the first four data centres. The assignment also included Project Management of the site planning, equipment acquisition, deployment and activation. During the planning stage, Peter identified gaps in systems management and security and took on the additional responsibility of developing these architectures and implementing the necessary processes and tools. He was also involved in hiring and training internal staff to man the ISP nodes, and worked with the Marketing department to develop the service descriptions

Yup. I do this from time to time. Apparently, I had a significant role in building the main airport in Columbus, OH, I'm a professor at at least one college, and a couple of other things.
However, most of the results that come up to a search on "Mike Casto" are, in fact, me - a tribute to my active internet life. And, surprisingly, almost all the results for me are related to martial arts ;)
One of the most interesting I found was the subject of: "Mike Casto nearly killed me." It was a discussion on a Kenpo forum between a guy named Jim Kiddoo in Canada and Jason Bugg in Texas. Jim and Jason have never met in person, but they are both Kenpo practitioners - and both have met me. Jim was relating a story about when we met. He was in the passenger seat when I totalled the rental car I was driving a few years ago. Of course, my theory is, "There was a big Canuck in the passenger seat who should have told me I was about to hit that truck." - so, of course, I blame him ;)
Still, a strange thing to see two Kenpo practitioners who have never met talking about me on a Kenpo discussion board that I'd never visited :)
