Genki Sudo :D

Doh! Just beat me to it! Sudo's gotta rate as one of the all time best, if just for his WWE style entrances! ;)

Big Fan of Sudo as well,
Also a fan of Vitor Belfort, and Vanderlei Silva is just plain scary :D

Mo Lung

Yeah, I go for Vanderlai Silva. That dude has some amazing striking skills and can play the game his own way. He really controls a fight.

But yeah - scary bugger!

I like Genki Sudo, but more in a submission wrestling environment - the clips circulating are awsome. But in Vale Tudo I feel he tries to frustrate his opponents too much with his un-authodox stances and kicks ... Still cool though - but I don't like his entrances, he came into UFC 42 as a woman !! :D

I've struggled to think of my top fighter - I don't like 'ground and pounders' (I think Matt Hughes is unbelievable, but I get a bit bored watching his fights) - I would have to say Mario Sperry is my No 1, he can stand and fight (if you haven't seen the Ninja V's Sperry fight - WATCH IT ! :) ) and his ground skills are amazing.

The Axe murderer is also one of my favourites :D

Until someone dethrones him, I will have to say my new favorite is Fedor Emilienko. That Russkie put the G & P in ground n pound! I've never seen ANYONE hit as hard and accurate as that guy. As far as overall technique is concerned, however, would still have to be Frank Shamrock. I look forward to see him back in the MMA scene. Hopefully, we can see him mixing it up with the fighters in PrideFC. THEN we'll see what kind of pressure he can overcome (or not).

i ve just seen the pride fight between the two gracie brothers and Kazushi Sakuraba. And i must say i m "hooked". I last saw gracie fight in UFC 1,and 2 or 3 and he kicked ass. But In pride sakuruba used kicks to keep him penned to the floor( in intense pain i must say)
Does it mean brazilian JJ dont have any answers to kicks?
Wot fighting style do the japanese team use.

rOYCE gracie was good in the ufc, until i saw this pride video. Dont know how recent it was but his corner threw in the towel. He took such a beating. Until then i d never heard of sakubura.
I know nothing bout brazilian jj. Does anyone know if Brazilian jj include kicks to their training?

Saku is an excellent fighter, how could I forget the 'gracie hunter'!!

ratman,
A BJJ school that adheres to the Gracie method of teaching will teach basic kicks. If you look at Renzo and Royler Gracie's book they demonstrate a side kick to the knee.

There is also a method of kicking from a downed position. Sakuraba countered Royce's attempts very well, but Rickson displayed what it was capable of when he used kicks to damage Funaki's knee. Also, Renzo used an up-kick from the ground to KO Oleg Taktarov(a former UFC champ).

Bob Sapp. The guy has absolutely no skill, but it's still fun to watch how a guy that weighs some 350 pounds has been able to do well in K-1 and MMA through sheer roided power. Watching him losing to Minotauro by armbar was also fun as the guy was half his size and still won

Also, I like Mirko Filipovic, but that is more because of his nasty kicks than his grappling.

He's not my favourite but one who I would love to meet is Randy Couture. The man is 40 years old, still fights top level is the UFC light-heavyweight champion. I believe he has achieved more than anyone else in MMA.

02-Nov-2003, 06:51 AM
#1 ROYCE GRACIE
#2 Bas Rutten
#3 Duanne "Bang" Ludwig
#4 Tank Abbott

No matter what anyone says Royce is the man in my mind. He is the most tactical fighter I have ever seen. He takes hit after hit for entire 15 minute rounds just to put the guy away the milisecond he makes a mistake.
I have to go with Bas simply because the guy is hands-down the best kickboxer I have ever seen.
Duanne is just dynamite in a ring, I've seen him jump up to deliver a flying knee to his STANDING opponents face.
And last but not least ol' Tank... what can I say I love watching a fat bar brawler go and beat the crap out of everybody.

By the way, I think Jet Li is completely overrated. His martial arts isn't good for anything but movies.

Minotauro

He will beat Crocrop and he will then beat Fedor to take his rightful position at the top of the Heavyweight rankings

You spited him real good. I hope that guy learned his lesson cause you really gave him a good tounge lashing. If i was him i would be crying my eyes out from all the verbal beat downs you gave him.

Jeremy Horn is soooooooooooo under rated and doesn't get talked about near enough...He's a good solid, well rounded fighter...

He's quiet too...doesn't run his mouth...so, that's probably why he doesn't get a bunch of headlines and press...

I guess if I had to have a favorite...that would be my guy...he's the anti-mma persona...if you will...

Vitor Belfort, he actually fights he doesn't waste time "wrestling". No offense but "wrestling" is something you do withyour friends. DOES NOT work in a multiple attacker situations.

Hmm can't say Ive seen multiple attackers in the cage or inside a ring...

and yes wrestling is something you do with your mates and training partners, in order to one day be half as good as someone like Randy Couture.

My top fighter would be...god knows there are alot of very talented guys out there, and I enjoy seeing them all doing what they do best.

My vote would go to Ken Shamrock. Only thing i hated was the fact that he went from crippling guys way bigger than him in the UFC to getting beaten by a guy way smaller and weaker for a 1 2 3 in the WWF. Just goes to show how fake it is. hah. Well theres 1 for Ken.

Rob

I heard he was going back into the UFC anyone know? I know his brother is in it now. WOW Ken is a scary guy.

I heard he was going back into the UFC anyone know?

Ken Shamrock is fighting Kimo June 19th at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas returning after a tough knee injury. He plans on fighting Tito Ortiz for a second time too! (after losing fighting him with a torn ACL)

Rumors are that Guy Mezger might come back to the UFC though.

Early Days Igor Vovchenchin - real hard git!

Now more so Macaco (BJJ agressive fighter) - he is one great guy to watch - a stronger version of Genki I see him as.
