I think it is pretty cool how many movies are out ,or about to come out that have martial arts in them.
People are paying plenty of $$ to go sit in the dark and marvel at the skills-real or not- of the people on the screen. And most I am sure have a little corner of the brain that wish they new how to do that "Karate stuff" The movies that come to mind that are in theaters or will be soon:
X-Men
Matrix II
Charlie's Angels II
Bullet Proof Monk......there is more I am sure. It is unfortunate that not more REAL martial artist are not used, but not all of us speak as well as we kick.....just take a peek at any of Chuck Norris's 1st 10 movies!:D

Though some may walk in the door of the Dojo with some unreal expectations, I think the movies do draw some people into training.
What do you think?

I'm sure that it's less likely an interest in martial arts would have been sparked in me if I hadn't been exposed to it in movies - so sure.

Your expectations have to change fairly quickly though if you want to maintain the interest :p

I didn't begin martial arts because of movies, but I believe many people do. These is also a high dropout rate among these people when they find out it's a long and hard road to become as Bruce Lee/Chuckie-boy/Van Damme. Movies give people the wrong picture of martial arts I think.

Back in my old days(70's) there was not much in the way of martial arts on tv,and movies like there is now. It sounds silly now but the tv show "Kung Fu" did it for me. I was around 9 and I could not get enough of that show. At the time there were no schools in my area, but a few years later one opened and I was all over my parents for about 2 years or so to let me try it. Now I cannot stand David Carradine, but i do have a full collectors set of "Kung Fu" buble gum trading cards that I collected over the years as a kid. Ya the trading cards came a few in the pack with Pink stale bubble gum!:p

Nah! I haven't got what they want. They want what they see on the screen and my training is errrr.... not like that :D

You mean you can't fly in the air doing triple backflips, land on your big toe, on a tree branch while catching a falling gun behind your back?!!! And yet you continue to train all the same.....:D
