I know this is my first thread here. But I would like to ask a question about everyone here.

How long have you been learning and how many forms do you know ?

thanks

By forms I assume you mean kata's?

If thats the case.. its 2 and a bit years, and 7 kata's for me.

Welcome to the forums by the way! :)

'Forms' or 'Set's' for the CMA people. and 'Poomse'? for the Koreans Sarah. 'Kata' is a Japanese term, and not always indicative of practice!

Hi and welcome to MAP :D

How long: 24 years

Forms: Learned & forgotten many over the years. Currently I only practice weapons based forms: 18 Doce Pares Eskrima forms and 5 Iaido form, and before anyone asks - NO, I don't believe I get ANY combative ability from them. I do them because I enjoy it :D

15 months at shaolin kempo, and i know 9 forms. Do i like them, yes. Helps me on balance agility and others but not fighting. However i do like taking technique out of forms to change it up and have some fun.

3 years of Shotokan and I know of 8 forms (2 I shouldn't as I'm not technically ready to know them them :D ) and have sampled several styles over the years 'cos I've been invited to clubs. Jorn Sau is enjoyable - but I've forgotten how to do it now...sorry Scotland!!

Yes, but karate/kobudo ones, although a good number of them where from kung fu at one time...

14 - 15 years: Probably about 40 total (hands & weapons), forgotten a few as well...
