Okay, as some of you know, I just recently (this past Monday) had knee surgery. Other than day to day walking around the house and at work, I am not to walk (power, exercise type), run, bike, calisthenics, etc. Can anyone recommend safe, knee friendly aerobic exercises? I underwent a big diet change recently also, and have started to lose some weight, but need to lose about 50lbs (22 kilos). It will be about 2 months before I can walk or use my elliptical trainer for exercise/weight loss. Serious suggestions only, none of this "eat less" because I am already doing that. Diet is no problem, finding exercises that will help me lose weight and keep fit, but not contribute to a longer recovery, is aproblem.

Swimming's excellent for loosing fat and staying in shape plus you can do it with or without your knee.

Dieting's no problem!? Man, I hate you.:p I seem to get fatter whenever I try to diet:confused:

Swimming is a good idea, with 2 small tiny problems:1) No indoor pools unless you belong to an expensive club, it's too cold to swim outdoors 2) I HATE WATER. Except for showering and drinking. I hate rain and snow (frozen water) pools and anything else that requires me to immerse my body for any reason except bathing.
I'm weird like that.
But honestly, I will give your suggestion serious thought, because it is a good, medically sound idea.

Well? How's it going?

I agree ...swimming is especially good because the water support reduces stress on knee joints.

You can focus on upper body-type stretching and strengthening exercises ... bench press etc.....

I've given this web site address to a few who have undergone knee surgery and it has helped them out when they were ready to resume rehab exercises. Check it out!

Thank you KC, I will be checking it out in a few minutes. And that Gazelle thingie sounds good Fergie Boy, only I'm trying not to buy anything else. I have a weight bench with lat attach and an elliptical trainer, and no spare room left.

Very carefully.... my back room is an obstacle course that would test any ninja's ability at stealth walking, climbing and balance...
