Went to the movies to see it loved it bought the D.V.D. and still love it. We need more martial arts movies like this. Not just great fight scenes but great acting, lighting, cinematography, direction and music. An all round fantastic movie.

I'm not so sure about this film. I only saw it at the cinema the once and while it looked very good, I'm not too convinced by the use of wire's in the movie. I felt the same about Romeo must die too me the wire work in these movies is just over the top and you can easily guess where they used wires while in the matrix I knew they were using wires for scenes but I thought the use was more subtle.

I have to agree with you on Romeo must Die but as for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon I think it worked very well. What you have to understand is that in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon the story is set in China's past which is full of ancient mythology and folklore concerning the abilites of the old masters. One such ability was the manipulation of chi' or 'breath' this would enable the master to become as light as air or as heavy as a rock. Thus giving the impression of being able to fly or run across water. Chi' is a very complex matter which can not be fully explained in such a short reply infact I don't think it can be fully explained, it is something you have to experience for yourself to get any understanding of it at all.

I guess I'll have to have another look at Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with this new view point. I must admit that from what I remember the fighting in the trees scene was rather impressive.

If you watch 'A Man Called Hero' you'll see more of the type of mythology of China, crossed a lot with Western 'superheroes'. I've just finished watching it, and I'm still in the fanatical raving stage.

Sorry to say but i really didnt like it all that well. I understand why they did all of the flying and stuff but i think it was over done.
But thats just my thoughts:

I liked Crouching Tiger alot.... i wish we would see more of Chow Yun Fat in MA movies... He has alot of acting talent.
I thought the wires added alot to the entertainment if nothing else (of course so did the guy that yelled "damn!!! she thinks she's Jesus" when they walked on the water LOL!!)
Romeo Must Die was way too patterned on The Matrix... It was good but not real impressive. I think I'd rather have watched a Jackie Chan movie again LOL.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was okay, but I think it could have been a whole lot better. There was absolutly tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooo;) much strings and stuff. It took away alot from the movie. It's okay to have a little of it in movies. But too much isn't good, depending on the movie.....like on the matrix it was okay, because of the type of movie in my opinon. Also, I think if you do use a lot of strings, you should use them accordingly, not every 5 seconds. anyway. That's what think;)
