Anyone here know of or study the style known as Sambo?

It is of russian origin. A grappling art.

I crosstrained in sambo for a while. Fun style, somewhat Judoesque standing, and great leglocks.

Think Judo, then add all the stuff they banned over the years and you've got Sambo! Got my ass kicked by a Sambo guy at a BJJ/Vale Tudo seminar once, ouch!

In the UK it is normally reffered to as Sombo, because Sambo was deemed to have racist overtones. What a pile of crock!

And train with a lot of Sombo guys - Tuff buggers!!!!!!

Its like Judo I guess as everyone says but the are very good at getting the job done - simple stuff with a lot on chokes and good ground work - interesting takes on the guard as well.

Its a Russian art and hurts like hell!
