Tomorrow's the big day. Surgery is scheduled for 10:30 in the morning. Going in to repair a torn medial meniscus. If all goes well, I can go back to active participation in 2 weeks. Wish me luck!

It's that cartiledge piece between the femur and tibia ( thigh and shin bone).
Thanx guys.

Hi Brad,
I wish you well friend. I've had the old knee cap of myself having torn the medial ligament before.
Do you know if the joint will be immobilised in a cast afterwards (less painful), or a support bandage only (arguably better for healing, buy could be sore)?

Andy, talking to the surgeon, he said no cast, only a bandage. Been practicing with my crutches the last few days. Wife thinks I'm weird, trying to incorporate them into my taijutsu (not that easy). I prefer my cane. We've grown attached to each other. :)

OK, well I'll not say anything else. Different malady after all.
I found 'Bacardi and Lucozade' cocktails to be beneficial. :D
Just think of all the pretty nurses ;)
Compare limps and scars afterwards?
Good luck Brad.

Back from surgery. There is a torn meniscus, but that wasn't what was causing the problem. The cartledege around it had grown in a peculiar way and was actual curling up up into the joint. The meniscus tear wasn't severe enough to cause problems. Heavily medicated right now, morphine sulfate. But, I can put some weight on the leg and will probably be off the crutches tomorrow and on my cane for a few days.
Tahnks for all the positive energy!

Okay, bandages came off today. Off the crutches yesterady and using a cane. Knee is swollen and there are 3 neat little incisions. Stitches come out tomorrow and I can ask the doc what the heck exactly it was that he removed.
He told my wife 2 months before I could go back to physical training. I'm going to find out what he wants me to do for rehab and then start that rehab thread that Pgm mentioned.
