Dunno - I think it is actually something to do with a radio station in America, so maybe there is no legit way for us Brits.

At £8.99 for the album, plus a DVD of the entire thing live, I think it is a bargain (play247.com). There is also no copy protection being put on it, but at this price it is worth buying. Think it is to silence people shouting sell-outs. In its own way though, with a free DVD they are effectively fighting piracy the way it should be done.

I am going. Have booked a guesthouse for £30 that is a 5 min walk away, and free fuel for the car (gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme that which I desire). All set. I am going to go early in the morning so that I can spend the day in the centre. Have to be at the Riverside studios (where TFI Friday was filmed) for 430pm, so hopefully I can look round a few shops. Never been to London, but it can't be that big ;-)

Well, I am back. What an evening.

I set off in the morning at 0745, with the hope of getting there around 11ish to go into the centre and have a look round. No chance. I actually arrived at the guesthouse for 1.30. It was advertised as having internet access in every room, and free morning paper, but had neither.

I decided to have a walk to the studios, in the hope of registering my name first of all, so that I could just come back later to be let in at 5pm. Wrong again, I got there and people where already queing. I joined them, to be told after a while that I was in the wrong queue and should be in the priority members queue. 3 people came behind me (separately) and one asked me if I was BlackRaven!! I had said on the metclub forum I would be wearing my 1996 club shirt, and I was the only one there with it on. Turned out that all 4 of us had been discussing the gig in my original thread on metclub!! Whilst queing, Brian from Big Brother came passed to go in. Everybody was laughing, but were all looking round to see if Cat Deeley was around. Never saw her at all though.

The organisers came outside, and said that we had to hand in all bags, mobiles and cameras into the cloakroom at the groups request. They said that if anybody were found inside with such an item, the gig would be stopped and cancelled. They said we would all be let in at 4pm,, but it was about 5.15. We then waited inside the bar area until we were let into the studio itelf. Whilst waiting, Brian (Big Brother) passed again, and Tommy Vance. I am also sure that Serge from System Of A Down came passed (or a good lookalike) but I am not 100% certain.

In the studio, there were black curtains all round so the room was very black. Being near the front of the queue, and having priority, I got to the centre (about 2 or 3 deap depending on different times).

The guyz came out and opened with Blackened which went straight into No Remorse. Everybody at front were moshing like crazy, and it was all security could do to keep the barriers up - they had to push them towards us all night. Jaymz then said that we should all stop pushing to avoid injury, before they then went into Sad But True. Frantic was next, with most people already knowing the words. Can't get that "Tic Tic Tic Tic Toc" out of my head. Sanatarium was next (one of my favourites), and then Fuel (one of my least favourites). There was then a bit of a gap, before they launched into St Anger.

They then said the tape had to be changed, and went off stage. CD:UK stickers were then put on the stage floor, to lots of boos. When Metallica came out, there were cries of "p155 on it"!, and CD:UK sucks - Cat can suck anytime ;-) Jaymz said "Well, we're gonna make them not suck". They then did Frantic again. There was a long gap after Frantic, and some crowd interaction. People where shouting out song titles, and I shouted out So What. Jaymz smiled and everyone started laughing. I guess it was a longshot for So What to be on CD:UK. They then did St Anger, and thanked everybody.

Rob was cool. He did his crab walk, and a funny Russian dance! He has defintely got the fans on his side. He has some big boots to fill following Cliff and Jason, but if anybody can fill them, he can. I was an inch away from getting a pick, but the guy that managed to get it had already got 2 in his hand. Surprisingly, they guyz, didn't do a meet and greet, so I have no souveniers, other than memories. I didn't think that Frantic or St Anger sounded that heavy until hearing them live. I believe the album is getting an earlier realise of ths Thursday, so I can't wait.

No Remorse
Sad But True
Frantic

It is not available to download at the moment (though there are a few fake tracks by groups like Holocaust that have been renamed). At £8.99 you couldn't make the cd, dvd and covers with much change anyway.

By the way, the gig I went to, the CD:UK bit will be on Saturday after this one. Headliners will be on Channel 4 in October. Look for me front and centre. :-)

Listening to the new album as we speak. I bought it from Safeways at lunchtime (despite having a pre-ordered copy that I can't cancel).

Apparently, Safeways have now realised their mistake and pulled it from the shelves. You might drop lucky.

I will do myself a copy, and hopefully swap it for the Iron Maiden dvd until my pre-ordered one comes along.

Oh yeah, the album is a bit good :-D

Has now been pulled from the shelves. I had already pre-ordered it, so I done myself a copy first (until mine comes) and took it back to swap for Iron Maiden DVD. They were glad to take it back as they said they had had an email saying they would lose their bonuses for selling them.

The tracks I got from Kazaa weren't the Proper metallica ones, but the dodgy ones that someone leaked out! Managed to get the legitimate version on MP3 now ;) And pretty decent, takes a bit of listening to before I was convinced....

Damn - have won a chance to go to a listening party in Manchester tonight. Three problems.

1) Have now heard the album countless times. Why couldn;t it have been a few weeks ago.
2) Free beer. I am driving, and have work in the morning.
3) Free food. I am on a diet.

Oh well, guess I might be able to force a morsel down!!

Song confused the hell out of me the first few times I heard it. I didn't know what it was and I thought that they were saying "say tango" instead of St. Anger. I really need to keep up with the music scene a bit more.

For those that don't know, Metallica are headlining the Donnington Download Festival in June on one of the 2 nights (Linkin Park is doing the other night). No other confirmed guests yet. There is also a Download Festival with the same guestlist in Scotland somewhere. Tickets on pre-sale now (before general public) from Ticketmaster.

Man, the concert was freakin awesome. They fully kicked. Here's whats taken from my journal. I was still on the high from the concert at time... so excuse any....'raving'. :

(19th January)

Started with mexican waves going around the arena, untill one corner slowed down, then the boos came in. LoL. It would go around and everyone would yell "hey" and "yeah" throwing their arms up and standing, then when it got to one corner everyone would go 'boo'. Heheh, it was pretty funny.

Then the support band came on. The Datsuns. They sucked. The people in the pit were just standing there yelling "Get off!" and "You suck!". And they were'nt far from the truth. I would have rather listened to nothing while waiting for Metallica to come on. They did suck. Then the lead singer said "Yeah, I was an angry young man too. Don't worry, you'll loose your virginity too one day". The crowed got worse. Haha.

Then there was a small break before 'tallica came on. From where we were sitting I could see James talking to the stage crew next the stage, shaking hands and all that. We had great seats. Awesome.

After a about 15 minutes, the arena went black, with the crowd screaming. On came Extacy Of Gold. :D:D

Straight after that, followed 'Fight Fire With Fire'. Yeaahh.

They then continued to play:
The Four Horsemen

It was around here james laid down the intro. "We are going to play new stuff, old stuff, middle stuff, you name it" Cheers al 'round.

Ride The Lightning

The intro kicked in to Welcome Home (Sanitarium), that was fantasic.

The Thing That Should Not Be

Frantic. "FRANTIC TIC TIC TOCK!!!!!!"

Sad But True "SAD BUT TRU-UE!!"

Dirty Window. Hetfield got the crowd going but into'ing this song by getting the say "DIR TEH WIN DOW!! DIR TEH WIN DOW!! DIR TEH WIN DOW!!"

Harvester of Sorrow

The stage went black and on came the sound battle. The stage lit up with explosions. The pyrotechics blew you away. Then there was the expected into to 'One'. The best of the show. By Far. Everyone. Everyone was up. You could barely hear James' words over the crowds!

Damage Inc.

Seek and Destroy. James: Search-in... Crowd: SEEK AND DESTROY!! James: Oh yeah! Thats it!

Nothing Else Matters was awsome. As soon as the intro came one, again, everyone was up. Loved it. The sound of peple singing almost drowned out James again!

Creeping Death

On came the bass and everyone new it was the first single off the new album being played. St. Anger

More pyro for Enter Sandman!! James was the only one lit up on the stage. He was just playin with the stings, familiar notes coming through. I wispered to my cousin (more like said) "Enter Sandman". The it kicked into gear. The riff exploded through the speakers, the horns went up and everyone was yelling. Oh yeah .

That was about it, James, Rob and Kirk started trowing picks out to the crowd. Then they picked back up the guitars and then finished with Last Caress and the suiting Hit The Lights.

Man, all the tracks were ****in awesome.

Rob was a real entertainer. Swingin his bass around like a axe. Crawing along the stage.

Half way through the show Lars got up and and ran amd wiped James' forehead with tissue. The ran back to the kit ready to kick in the beat.

James had a few trips on the stage (yeah right!) spilling his drink all over the pit. Heh Heh.

Kirk was great, really getting into the solos of the tracks, and just solos-solos betweens songs.

All three guitarists were getting up close the crowd. Again, the seats we had were totally wickard. We could everything in every detail. Not that we used the seats... we were standing all the time!! I neck is still sore from the bangin! lol.

Through the show James was saying "YEAH!! you feelin good Brisbane?" YEAH "We're feeling good up here. Thank you Brisbane!! They went off stage about a few times, and came back on to the sound of cheers and stomping feet, returning to the setlist.

YEAH!! HAHAH it gets me so pumped thinking about it.

my favourite part at BDO.

They had just done battery! omg i went off my tree got kicked in the head a few times heheheh. then they started nothing else matters. just like you said EVERYONE was singing and it was awesom. so everyone was chillin at the end off the song lars was just shimmering the high hat. suddenly outt know where he stands up and start hitting in enter MASTER OF PUPPETS!! james: HERE WE GO BABY! wen it kicked in to the main guitar james: DEAR GOD!!

that was to much for me hehehe so good. id kill to c them again.
