Hi everybody,
can u give me suggestions for free 'spyware-adware remover' software??
currently i'm using spybot search and destroy 1.3 but it can't remove certain adware. I also use the unregistered version of zerospyware-lite,no differences. each time i open my IE browser, there is a new bar with 'make money, investing, travel, casino blah blha blha' button and a search bar. It is really annoying
my norton anti-virus is unable to delete the adware and i'm afraid if i delete those files manually then the registry files would be affected.
how to get rid of this *@!&#(!&@#(! blah blah blah ??? can somebody give me some advices or suggest a solution for me???
thank you :)

We use Ad-Aware at work on the customer's and service machines. It does the job nicely. As Yoda pointed out, its free from www.lavasoftusa.com

Dunno if anyone's heard of SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/products.html) but I use it and its excellent to stop stuff getting on your computer in the first place.
However in your particular case I don't think it would be much use, as the stuff is already on your computer, but you should get hold of it anyway.
The site I've pointed you too also has a few other good anti-spyware things, possibly worth a look too.

I found that having consistently updated ad-aware and spyware blaster in conjuntion with switching to mozilla has completely exterminated any mal/ad/spyware that has been foolish enough to come within ten electrons of my computer. It's the equivalent of having auto-tracking/targeting 100Ghz tachyon particle cannons mounted onto your harddrive. Well if THAT isn't a nifty idea to draw out during my next class..
Oh yeah: Norton sucks monkey-nuts. You can get AVG antivirus off of www.download.com for free. Tons better, too.

Try the CW shredder from this site:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
The guy produces this for free, and it generally works, but it can cripple media player - if it does just download media player from microsofts' website.
If the title bar says about:blank, then you may have a bit more of a problem, and the removal is a bit more involved. I posted about this back in april - have a look:
http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14891&highlight=about%3Ablank
You can pick up a good bit of freeware that'll help prevent this sort of thing happening again. I run spysweeper and spybot on my machine.
Hope it helps.

The best thing to actually cut down on the amount of spyware that gets on your computer is this: www.mozilla.org/products/firefox :D

Spybot is a MUST. Ad-aware is very vulnerable for few spywares (they just kill adaware.exe file), thus, use adaware+spybot will be very wise choise. They will backup one another.

I generally use Ad Ware and Spybot. Sometimes with Ad-Ware you have to use a customized scan for it to clean the whole system. Its smart scan doesn't catch everything.
One thing about some spyware is that it puts a site address on your local hard drive. It will be an address as soon as you open your browser. Usually you can tell by the address at the top. Most don't disguise themselves there and in the address bar you willl have something that refers to the c drive instead of http. Some are tricky and hide themselves but with the running of the spyware you can clean your registry to which is sometimes where they like to hide themselves. If you are not skilled in this area I suggest you use a RegCleaner. Generally they are free and don't take much to use. One thing with these though is that if you have not used a program for awhile it might consider that registry key to be an orphan...This generally is not a big deal...but some programs just don't like registry cleaners...I have only had problems with shortcuts which I just recreate. The one I use does not like Incredimail and you have to uninstall and reinstall it whenever the scan is run...but that is a small problem when it comes to keeping your registry clean. I also sometimes have a problem with the updates for AOL and Yahoo messangers staying on there...I think that is because I have restore points off...I will have to see if that happens when I turn it back on.

I recommend 'Webroot Spy sweeper'. I have found it the most comprehensive one of the lot, but do suggest you use it in conjunction with another of the mentioned products, as it give you a two-tier level of defence.
Cheers,

Firefox really does put into perspective how slow Microsoft Internet Explorer really is.
And now, any websites I design and create; I make sure they're 100% compatible with Firefox!

Yeah, I"m sure that those browsers are cool. But the problem is that not every site compatible with those browsers, thus you will not be able to open every site you see in the net. Thats the main reason why I still use IE .

You'd be supprised akira2000. This was one of my main worries when I first installed Firebox. But i was pleasantly supprised.
If there are any incompatibility issues, you normally find it's something small like borders, margins or alittle style sheet problems.

I installed mozilla. There were a lot of problematic sites, so I throwed mozilla away. I realy hope that one day microsoft will go down, but this will $NOT$ happen very soon :D

Yeah, the chances of them ever going under is very (x100) slim. They're too deep into the computer market now. Much like a tick in a dog!
