Why is it that the dryer eats socks? Wouldn't it prefer pants?

Perhaps, we should all get together with our many piles of socks and see if we can match them up? Maybe I have some of yours here. Especially since I don't remember owning any green or pink ones. I usually have gray or white ones,.........?
