Donations

The site has been up and running now for two years and in that time we have relied upon banner adds to cover any costs that have occurred. I would now like to take the site to the next level and start to advertise on a global scale to increase membership and interest in the site unfortunately this costs money so I have decided to add a donate button, just click on it and it will take you to our Paypal account. This is entirely voluntary and only for those who can spare some money to donate to the site, the money will be going back into the site to make it a better place for all our members and visitors.

I just thought I would explain why I was putting up a donations button, any comments or feedback would be welcome.

I ain't got much, but I think this site is worth the few dollars I can spare. I'm donating a few dollars out of my Japan fund. Hopefully others will donate and help keep a worthwhile site and forum grow stronger and better.

Thank you Kurohana your donation is gratefully appreciated. As I said all donations are voluntary I do not want anyone to feel obliged to give money. pgm316 We have no fixed amount as we have no idea how this will go, we are just trying this out to see. Might even make enough to get rid of those annoying pop up adds :D

But just imagine if every member just gave a dollar? (well, I'm talking US funds... find an equivalent amt. from all countries i.e. Canadian Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling, and ) you would have yourself quite a donation!

To date we have had £36.00 kindly donated to the site thanks to those that have contributed.

To put things in perspective, the add we would like to put in a British magazine costs £132.00 for a half page per month. Dont know yet how much for an American add but that is next.

Adds is just one thing money would be used for. We would also be looking at upgrading our software, paying for the hosting and paying for my round the world trip to meet all you nice members :D

You could give the money to another member and let them donate for you. That would only work if you're in contact with other members though. Maybe Cooler could post an address for cheques to be sent to?

I don't have a credit card either, but I'm pretty sure a debit/switch card will work with Paypal. As soon as I get enough money in my Paypal account, I'm going to donate it. It just might take a little while :(

Thanks for all the feedback and support guys and gals :D it is much appreciated. As Andy so rightly pointed out no one gets paid on here and we make no money what so ever from the site. We do it because we enjoy doing it especially the moderators all of whom work really hard for the site my thanks to each and every one of you, this site could not be what it is today without your help and invaluable input.

It would be nice if one day the site could generate some money but as I have said from the start this will not be done at the expense of the members. The donations are completely voluntary I do not want people to feel obliged to donate money as I know a lot of people simply cant afford it or don't have a credit card, the members contribute to the site by simply being here and sharing there input with everyone else and making this such a fun place to be. Any money we do make through donations will be used to promote and improve the site.
