Tom Bisio's "A Tooth from the Tiger's Mouth: How to Treat Your Injuries with Powerful Healing Secrets of the Great Chinese Warrior" is being published on October 14 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com. I've known Tom for several years as his student, and more recently, an apprentice in his Chinese medicine clinic. In fact, I went to school and became an acupuncturist fundamentally because I saw first-hand how effective his style of Chinese medicine can be for treating martial arts-related and sports-related injuries.

The book is written for the lay-person, not the clinician (for whom Tom teaches advanced courses in acupuncture, herbology, and bone-setting) and would be a welcome addition in anyone's martial arts libary.

More information can be found at: www.tombisio.com

As Gaskell said Steve.

Cross posting is BAD. You've been around forums long enough to know better

Sorry - early in the day.

I hope my mistake can be mitigated by an understanding of the following:

Tom Bisio was a Magino'o Guro (Elder Instructor) in Pekiti Tirsia Arnis under Leo Gaje and founded the San Miguel Eskrima Association after studying SME extensively with Momoy Canete in Cebu. Anyone familiar with Filipino martial arts in the United States during the '70's and '80's would understand why I might want to post under the Filipino Martial Arts Forum.

For an understanding of why I would want to post under the Internal Arts forum, I suggest that you look under the "About" link on Tom's webpage: www.tombisio.com. Tom has studied with numerous teachers in Taiwan and the PRC and is one of the foremost (if little-known) Ba Gua and Xing Yi teachers New York City. The article from "Ba Gua Journal" in his website is good reading, in this respect.

Additionally, the book is about traditional healing methods for sports-related injuries but is written partially for martial artists and atheletes who may only be familiar with western sports-medicine approaches to training injuries. Hence my cross-posting in two different healing forums.

My interest was in promoting a book wherein you try to reach out to as many appropriate demographic areas as possible: had I posted only in one forum I would have run the risk of missing others that were just as legitimate. (For example, how many Filipino Martial artists go straight to the "Filipino Martial Arts" forum and regularly skip one or more of ALL the other forum pages on "Martialartsplanet" -not because they're not interested, but because there's only so much time in the day?)

Anyhow, I hope my action does not dissuade you from reading Tom's excellent book.

Best,

Steve Lamade
