I was wondering if any MT schools around Charleston, SC are around? I found one through extensive Googling, but I haven't called it yet to see if it's still open. It's instructed by Dick Harrell. If there are any others you know please tell me.

How goes it man. I live in Charleston too and have already done a local search for muay thai. Pickings are slim. I went Searching for Dick Harrell, knocking on his old Apt. door. I believed he moved, maybe to Charlotte within the past 2-3 years. There is one muay thai "gym" in North Charleston ( notice i said gym instead of school) Its a very small place with a half dozen heavy bags hagning from the ceiling. I'd wager less than a dozen guys train there. The guys were friendly and physically fit, but the lack of instructioned turned me off. The Instructor did not show up the night that i came by. I got the feeling that he would check in with the students once or twice a week for a bit, maybe less, then let them train on there own. People would let themselves in, train, and leave. I want more contact with an instructor than this, even though i love muay thai and am consideriing picking up Duke Roufus tapes maybe a year down the road http://www.groundfighter.com/details/prodid/133.html, and a heavy bag for myself. Anyways too little instrcuctor contact for me so i didn't go back again and started doing BJJ instead. If you haven't done any ground work and are interested in BJJ, you should come by our place sometime. First weeks free. Private message me for more info or directions to either place.

How close are you guys to Columbia? The reason I ask is that about 2 years ago, there used to be an INCREDIBLE Thai Camp called "Thai Kingdom". Thai champ Kongnapa used to train there. The camp was run totally by Thais and was very traditional AND technical. I have lost their contact information, and I don't know if the camp still exists or not, but I certainly hope it does....

Columbia is about 2 hours away from me, but I heard of that camp before. I know there is a place near the barnyard flea market that teaches MT and BJJ. Columbia Martial Arts Training Center I think is the name of it. I just don't have the time to make it there by the time I get home.

Definitely one of the BEST Muay Thai School in Europe is the Narai muay Thai Group; you can look on the net +They are opening a new school in North Charleston (SC). I don't have the contact, but i am pretty sure you can find something in youtube or myspace.
Good Luck!
