I am wondering wether it is ok to stretch the day after I stretch heavily, I usually feel a kind of soreness behing my knees and around the thighs [not pain or spasm]
I usually skip it, but after a few days I feel my muscles tightened, ie even less flexible......am I not doing something rite?

Hi cain,
When you stretch heavily you are stretching the muscle fibres and causing micro tears in the muscle. What ive found works best for me is doing a heavy stretching session about 3 times per week and on the other days doing some lighter stretching which seems to stop the tightening feeling you are experiencing. My personal routine is for my heavy stretching II'l do 3-4 sets per stretch and ussually 2 stretches per body part or II'l do some PNF stretching. On my lighter days II'l do 1 set of slow relaxing stretching or some yoga, hope this was some help

Good advice Little Lion.
Cain: Active recovery is what you need i.e. some aerobic work followed by joint rotations and light maintenance stretching - to your current limit but not beyond it.

Hmm, thanx for the advice, you mean to say that I should stretch but not the same intensity as before rite? It's just that I am not familiar with terms like active recovery

Active recovery = being active during recovery? Rather than sat on your backside.
