I'm more of old school like matt here. I'm into wu tang clan, some biggie smalls, some gangsta rap (regulators is a fun tune), I like 80s R&B. Much "cleaner" or meaningful rather, not just booty grinding although I know there are some of those.

I only listen to underground hip-hop, because in my view, that's the only hip-hop style that still has the intensity; the fire in the lyrics.

In terms of hip-hop (some have been mentioned already), I like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Roots Manuva, Blackalicious, some N.E.R.D. stuff (if you can call that hip-hop), Jurassic 5, the Nextmen, OutKast (again, not completely comfortable in the hip-hop category), Ozomatli and the brilliant concept album by Dan the Automator, Handsome Boy Modelling School (or is it called 'So...Hows Your Girl?'. Confusing, that one :p).

Basically the Daisy Age is my favourite period, and tends to include the most intelligent lyrics, which is my main attraction to hip-hop along with the strong rhythms.
