I need to get more protein into my daily diet and though I know about supplements and shakes I would like to also get a bit more protein in actual food form.
So I ask, what is your favorite high protein food?

Turkey breast
Chicken breast
Tuna
Although I think turkey may be slightly higher in protien, my favorite protien food is Chicken. Wrap a couple of slices of bacon around it before cooking it... I don't know if there's much protien in bacon, but it tastes nice :) Some types of Fish, lentils and beans have a resonable amount of protien in them too.
Don't forget good old eggs.
Nuts as well, they contain the fats you want in your diet.
Fish are also high in protein, and contain essential fatty acids your body needs, if you're eating fish 3x a week you should be getting all the fats your body needs.

If you have a lot, it's better to just have the whites as they don't have the fats & cholesterol that the yolks have.
Nuts and Cheese are high in protein but also high in fat, though some cheeses are pretty low fat (Feta for example, and goats cheese is not bad).
I personally struggle to eat enough protein (I'm a vegetarian and weight train hard) so I have one or two protein milkshakes a day.

Milk Milk Milk. Drink at least a half a gallon a day, or 2 liters for you people using that metric system thingy. If you're on a diet make sure you use low-non fat, :) I drink a full 4 liters somedays.
Thats a lot of milk! Experts recommend that you drink at around 8 glasses of water (i think thats about 2 litres.) Add that to the milk and thats about 4 litres of liquid a day!

As far as protein goes, I like chicken the best - you can do quite a lot with it! Also, instead of snacking on crisps or something, I like to snack on nuts and as Bon says, another good source.
As for the fliuds, I read a very interesting article not so long ago. It was suggested that the idea of 8 glasses a day is not truly accurate. Ideally you should drink little and often and as much as you want (obviously the 8 glasses is a good minimum). If you drink large quantities at once you overload your kidneys and your bodies natural ability to recognise thirst is diminished. I'll try and find the article I read for you guys - it's quite interesting.

Cheese is Ok, not too much of it though, otherwise you should eat low-fat.
And nuts contain good fats that your body needs! Fats do not make you fat, unless it's the unhealthy kind that you find in Macca's. Our ancestors' diet consisted of lots of protein and fats, and they were mean & lean. The only carbs they had were from fruits & vegetables. Carbs are the devil, they're a man made thing.

Not sure if this is true, but I read in a few sites that suggest that a person should have at least 10% of body fat

Great stuff guys, I really like some of these things.
Unfortunately I am not too big on chicken unless its coated in fatty crap. I guess I could try some new variations or something.
Turkey and tuna are great though and so is milk, nuts and eggs.

Actually I'm sure that the advice is now 8 glasses of fluid, not just water. So every glass of milk counts towrd the 8 a day.

At my leanest about 2 years ago I was 7% bodyfat. I did feel like I lost strength when I started to go below about 10% though!

I do believe it's 8 glasses a day for normal people. Considering most of us in here do not lead a normal life in the way of daily waterloss.(i.e. we sweat a lot more and build more muscle mass) I believe this would be the absolute minimum. Me being a relatively large guy, over 90 kilos, I sweat almost that full 8 glasses. If I was to drink only 8 glasses a day I would dehydrate and be near exhaustion all day. Just my 2 cents :)

Cottage Cheese is a standby for bodybuilders, lots of protein and little carbs or fat. The only real drawback is the disgusting taste
You do tend to lose increasing amounts of strength at lower BFIs, and the level varies with the person. Usually the optimum is 12-14%

what is BFI?
I have been eating a lot of cottage cheese recently, to combat the taste I have been throwing in some low carb fruit sauces.
