Would a one knuckle punch (Ippon-Ken, Phoenix Eye) do more damage than a Straight Blast? Does the Straight Blast cause internal damage?

Well ... if you're using the term "straight blast" as I'm most familiar with it (from the use of the term in Jun Fan circles) then this is a non-question.

The straight blast (assuming you're talking about the same thing) is simply a continuous chain of punches fired down the center line. The "punches" may be any type of strike. They may be basic punches, they may be palm strikes, or they may be one knuckle punches.

*Any* strike can cause internal damage.

One knuckle punch is just another tool. It has its place but isn't a panacea ... no single tool is.

It depends partly on the target. Some targets for ippon-ken are hard to reach with a regular fist formation.

Smaller surface area of the weapon = more damage. On the other hand it can also mean more damage to the weapon.
