Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help my in defining the following Jun Fab/ Wing Chun terms?

1. Toi ma
2. Toi gert
3. Pak tek
4. Lap gert
5. Bong gert
6. Jeet gert
7. Yao ma
8. Jo ma
9. Loi da
10. Har da

Also thinking about it I also wonder if anyone knows what the difference between Lop sau and Lap sau is apart from the obvious spelling?

Lap sau - Clearing hand i.e moving your opponents arm to clear the way without actually grabbing it

Lop sau - grabbing your opponents arm to clear the way

Terms 1-10. Not familiar with the romanisation of those terms but I can make a good guess. If no-one else comes up with an explanation I'll let you know what I think they are.

Thanks Light Ng I'd appreciate you guesses. They gotta be better than mine.

All the way through my notes I swing from Lop to Lap depending on what it sounded like - is the same same basic movement the same though just with/without the grab?

3. Pak tek should be slapping kick probably inwards to opposite knee

Thanks for all your help Fergie Boy and Light Ng. OK with some alterations and much scouting around I have the floowing translations (incase you're interested):

1. Toi mah - evade by moving entire stance back
2. Toi geuk - evade by moving front leg back
3. Paak tek - slapping kick (intercept)
4. Lap geuk - overhook the kick
5. Bong geuk - in WC this is a bong sau + intercept kick; in JF this is the same as 6.
6. Jeet geuk - lower leg shielf (Thai crush)
7. Yao ma - move to right (usually accompanied by kick to supporting leg - cut kick)
8. Jo ma - move to left
9. Loi da - inside hit (split entry)
10. Har da - low hit

Now to remember them...
