I've been trying to figure something out and I was wondering if someone could help me.....
What are those ankle-brace type things that Muay Thai and kickboxers wear on their feet? All the guys in K-1 wear them I've noticed. I have never heard of an actual name for those or what purpose they serve. Nobody at my gym wears them so I don't know anything about them.
Could someone tell me what these are called? Thanks :)

We call them anklets and they give your ankle some support.

They can also help ruduce pain when kicking the same as handwraps would if you were hitting a heavy bag. It takes out that slapped feeling on your skin.

Ah, very cool :)
I've been having a lot of problems with my right ankle lately, so maybe the extra support from these would help out.
I wonder why nobody at my school wears them

Wearing them sometimes makes you think your foot is like iron but the reality is that when you take them off your foot you will find your feet very hurt and damaged. I used to wear them and where great but at times it’s hard to move your ankles freely. Plus when you are going a roundhouse you will find it harder to point you foot out. I would recommend trying them for a little then using your bare feet and decide.

nah keep them on, feels better. Lends support to your ankle because you wouldn't want that to bounce around.

I cannot fault the place, I have ordererd anklets and a cd round timer and hand wraps from them and they come next day every time. good lads on the phone too. Muay thai shops in england are generally unreliable IMHO.
