I thought Kickboxer and bloodsport were great. I also like Van Damme's replacement in kickboxer-2.

I don't like Van Damme. He seems like a bit of a schmuck. He also screwed many of his partners out of royalties with regard to movies that he made.

Van Dammes replacement in kickboxer 2 was Sasha Mitchell, also famous for non other than Dallas LOL!
Im not sure whether he is a fighter, or just an actor like Eric Roberts (Best of the Best) and Jason Scott Lee (Dragon).
Got to admit tho, wasnt bad for a low budget sequel.

I heard, through someone sparring with him for The Quest I think it was that he is a bit of a pansy. One of the guys in the movie that he fought and beat was sparring with him and got told to take it easy on him but this was probably just an overexaggerated story.
but on the whole Van Damme movies are entertaining and sparked what my friends and I call "Van Damme Syndrome". The good guy is fighting some huge "boss" dude, starts out well then starts getting his arse kicked. He cops eough hits to kill Arnie then miraculously jumps back to his feet and in thirty seconds has the bad guy beaten to a pulp.
I know there are probably people who did this before him but he does it so much, he was even the bad guy who this happened to once (at the beggining of his career). I thought this a hilarious irony when I realised who he was after watching it again a few years later. Van Damme beaten by someone using Van Damme syndrome.

Guys, we've all heard the bad things about him but try these 2 movies he did.. No Retreat, No Surrender and Black Eagle. If you can find these, not too bad before the "attitude" And of course we all heard about the pounding he got in that big city restraurant by one of his old bodyguard for running his mouth.
I know he's trying to make it again, I saw the magazine and have a couple of his latest movies that were mentioned. I just hope he's been "attitude adjusted". With the skill he posseses, leg muscles with side splits, it's a shame to have it go to waste.

Van Damme started out ok when he did time cop he was going good i thought that was a very good movie and he was on his way to big time movies BUT he has slid into B-movie time zone where there is no returne.

Did you that Van Damme started out as a ballet dancer and his first movie was that of a gay dancer. My personal preference for his best movie has to be "Hard Target". However, I also like "No Retreat, No Surrender".

It was called "The Hunted" not to be confused with "The Hunted" (2003) with Tommy Lee Jones. The original The Hunted was a pretty good movie. One of my favorite parts of that movie was on the subway after he killed all of those ninja or ninjas (not sure about the plural for ninja) the police asked for his sword as evidence. So, he stabs it into the ground and breaks it with his forearm and then hands it to the police. It was great.
Back on topic. I loved Van Damme as a kid and he made some classic MA movies in the beginning of his career. I liked Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Universal Soldier, Timecop, Hard Target, Double Impact, and Nowhere to Run. Sudden Death is a maybe. After that they all suck especially when he started to try and do buddy movies like Knock Off and Double Team, Yuck.
<<Edit: I forgot to mention Cyborg, and Death Warrent. Completely forgot about them.>>

The "gay" JCVD film was crap art-house job called "Monaco Forever" and he was in it for about 5 minutes and the entire extent of his "gay sex scene" consisted of him touching another mans leg before beating him up - not exactly XXX!
In fact he was also in "Breakdance" showing the *ahem* "dancing skill" he showed in "Kickboxer" (Grreeeaatttttt film! Bad dancing!)
To be honest I have always loved "Bloodsport", but I have a sneaky soft spot for "AWOL" too. And "Cyborg"...in fact I liked most films of his until he did "Nowhere to Run" - that sucked!

Despite JC's attitude I've always liked his films. Cyborg being my favorite. I just hope he stays off the cocaine, and stays humble.

I like Chuck Norris as well and heard that he as only Westerner earned an 8.th Dan in TKW. Steven Seagal seems a bit of an arrogant guy and his CIA story is probably BS. "Under Siege".....hmm, I especially like Erika Eleniak popping out of the cake.... :D :D
