Are the PS2 games from the UK playable on the U.S. consoles?
I live in the U.S. and want to purchase some games that are only available overseas. If the region is different, is it possible to mod the Playstation to recognize the disks?
Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure your console will need to be chipped to play overseas games.
MAP member Blackraven is the guy to ask.

Yes. Chipping is difficult though, so you'll want to get someone who knows what they're doing to do it. Ask around your local games shops. If you don't want to chip it, try one of these (http://www.ps2cover.com/). I've got one of these and find it works fine for most imports (Just remember that you'll want Swap Magic to be in NTSC format instead of PAL though. PAL= Europe, NTSC= US
Thanks in advance.
You're welcome :D

he he he he he
if you want to chip you have to determine which ps2 you have.
there are several versions, and the difficulty of chipping varies from solder jobs to just plugging something in to the expansion port.

Don't chip the PS2! There are about four chips to pick from and it is harder chipping the PS2 than the PS. If the chipping is done right you'll be happy. If not the chipping will not last long and might ruin your system.
Get the mod disk instead. You just find the disk save the data on a memory card and use that memory card to save the import games onto so you will be able to play them.
Don't know but if they came out with it (they do it for Sega, Xbox and Nintendo) get the switch. You hook the switch onto the back of the system where you plug in the cords and then flip the the switch on to play import games. The switch IS the best way to go, if the PS2 has it.

Unfortunately the switch doesn't exist for the PS2, by far the easiest way to play imports is with the flip top lid.
I'm not sure what you mean about the memory card. Do you mean applying the Swap Magic data into the memory card? That's ok, but it doesn't work with some PS2 versions. If you mean copying the actual game onto the memory card... well... that's just not gonna happen ;)
