Hey hey computer-minded peeps,

A quick question if you will? I'm close to buying a laptop after many, many months of careful consideration (it's not cheap this computer lark  ). The laptop in question (BenQ Joybook 5100u) has all the toys I want it to have but the only real fault is that it has an integrated graphics solution (Intel Extreme 2) which pinches up to 64MB of system memory.

Now, I know that this means that the latest games will not run smoothly but this doesn't worry me as I won't be using it for games. From the industry press I've found out that it gives a 3DMARK score of around 2,000 - not good but decent enough - apparently. However, does an integrated graphics chip affect things like video quality (MPEG) or DVD playback?

Also if anyone has this particular laptop can you tell me about the build quality? So far I've only heard good things about it. :p

Thanks peeps. :

Just over £900 including 2years warranty, which is great, as it covers everything including collect and return. In the case of accidental damage I'm covered by my contents insurance. :D

So, noone knows about the integrated graphics?

Sounds like a good deal. :) :)

£904.00 is the best price I found.

So, noone knows about the integrated graphics? :confused:For video and DVD playback, the intergrated graphics chipset would be fine. You won't notice any difference between it and a higher level card for uses such as that.

As for playing games with it, it's definitely not the best. It will play the games that are few years old, and possibly even more recent ones on lower quality. But it wasn't built for it.

But like I said, it would be pretty much perfect for watching movies with.

As for build quality, BenQ are pretty good. They are basically a division of Acer - one of the best companys in I.T for components and systems.

If it suits your needs, go for it. ;)

Hey thanks man, I'm gonna go for it. :p

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting it from savastore or pcnextday, I've not had dealings with either company so can anyone tell me if you've ordered goods from them and what are their customer services like?

Thanks

In fact here's a question(well more a 'troubleshootery problem') related to graphics cards in laptops...

I happen to have a Sony Vaio with a ATI Mobillity Radeon 7500 in it and the display in Win XP is a bit distorted, some of the icons are rather too pixelated and hence you cant make out what they mean. It probably was my fault this happened as I installed Direct X 9.0b, tho I didnt expect that to happen.

I dont particularly want to reformat the thing cos of this, tho that obviously is an option. I have tried installing and uninstalling the ATI drivers, even tried the chance of the "System Restore". Any ideas? (all greatly appreciated of course :))
