No I haven't.
Not to sure I want to fight MMA, but I'd give submission fighting a go. Possibly shoot fighting, but don't fancy getting my face panned in on the floor.
Bit of a wimp I guess :( but hey

I've fought Muay Thai but not MMA as yet.
There's a submission grappling tournament on March 9th that me & some of my students are fighting in - should be fun :D

Fought in a competition where there were set rules but any martial art could enter.
Kicks/punches to head legal sweeping kicks to thighs quite common and legal.
After sparring against two Kickboxers to get myselfI bronze I seriously reconsidered changed the way I spar with my hands.
After nursing "coligen injection" lips for a while ow!

Never did MMA although it would be cool. I wrestled a bunch of matches in high school, but I left the team to concentrate on Kempo. I would like to get into competitive MA but not stuff like forms, music and the like although it may be fun. First i would like to do more sparring and learn more grappling. Just got a Gracie BJJ book and found a partner.

Hey TKD
dont worry about it. Experience is the best teacher. better to learn in a controlled environment than on the street.

It was the brutality that surprised me, dude the the other guys smashed straight through my "guard". Most of the time it was my own fists hitting me that caused the damage.
Older and wiser now (althought sometimes feels like just older!!)

Its worth talking to a guy I train with called Alan Cain as he is a Sombo instructor and he has had a couple of his lads go in for the Vale Tudo tournaments.
I have wanted to go in for one and will do before I get past the prime and all - drop me a line if you wanna get in touch with him as he is good.
Sombo - good style as many Sombo players do well in it - I like Sombo myself and have done a MT bout - 1.28 of the first round KO. It was a bit unfair as the guys instructor should not have put his student in the ring as it was a bit of a miss match (lucky for me).

Had a few Shoot (open palm) style matches back in the day. One ten min round with 3 min overtime, inc head shots on ground the full bit. very hard matches.

done mma a few times and trained in vale tudo and bjj, exelent thinking mans fighting. good all round martial art system. also trained with the machine a few times , totally awesome fighter and really good bloke too. if u r considering doing mma find a good instructor and base your style around wot u know. grappling is really a must, but mainly escapes and pins if u r a stand up fighter. don't try and learn too much too fast.

Local Shooto Tournment under 73kg about a year ago
Won one with a rear naked would you beleive it!!
second round lost to a Kimura
Took some hard leg kicks and a few cuffs on the ears so was sore sore sore, amazing for 5 mins or less on the mat.
Good fun but I wouldn't want to be a Pro.

The closest I've ever gotten was fighting for fun with some kickboxers, a Jeet Kune Do practitioner, and my BJJ teacher in our ring. I beat everyone but my teacher. Of course the JKD guy had a cold, but hey I still won and that is all that matters right?
...right?
If that's what you care about, then yes.

hi,
I had my first mma match two nights ago :)
im 20, 5 10", 11 stone
Had two fights that night, won the first one with a school boy headlock! and drew the second one as i got kneed to the back of the head (so they called it a draw as i was almost out anyway!) - both only lasted bout 2-3 minutes... good fun and il definately do it again soon.
Bad thing about it is i got a nasty cut above my left eye plus bruising... not too popular with the girlfriend/family!
:)

my high school started a mma club, so i fight in those matches; i'm now 6-0-1, and no fight's gone to the second round...luckily for me :D
tko(punches), armbar, armbar, triangle, tko(kick to solar plexus), and a mata leao on my 250 pound asian man! that one was fun...so does anyone else do mma NOW?

I have visited almost every highschool in south philly and never ever seen or even heard of any fight clubs in any of em.
Maybe its just in Wyoming eh?

Does MMA include street fighting?
Does it also include hitting people from behind with a baseball bat?

I've had a few great MMA fights down at the local Irish bar. You'd be surprised how many REAL Irish people there are here in Alaska, when the Samoans and them fight, you talk about entertainment.

Watching drunk people arguing is probably the most entertaining thing i have ever seen. I kinda miss it.
