Hi Pat,

Congratulations on the marriage and the next generation of Rapid Arnis practitioners!

I will pass on your greeting to Guro Roland. We have been very busy travelling, researching, training and interviewing various masters for a series of articles to appear in Blitz martial arts magazine in Australia.

Have you travelled here for the WEKAF World Championships?

Take care.

Hi David,
Long time no hear, No I have not travelled to the WEKAF event this time, I have retired from WEKAF in 2000 and concentrating on the more combat side of things, plus we have another little O'Malley on the way, due in January and busy upgrading the house, (tiling the bathroom at the moment).

Anyway, hope your travels have been interesting and I am sure you have some interesting stories to tell, Planning a trip to the Philippines next year then hopefully popping over to Australia for a visit.

Anyway, hope you are all well and send my regards to one and all.

All the best

Pat

Congratulations to Lucy and yourself on the forthcoming baby. Guro Roland asked me to also pass on his regards to you and his congratulations.

Have been busy training here and conducting some interviews which I must say, have provided me with many interesting moments.

When you have an idea of when you are going to Australia, please PM me and maybe we can help you set a seminar up in Melbourne. I can arrange an interview in the magazine several months before you arrive.

Hi Shootdog Congratulations to you too, what you having??, I dont know what we are having yet (could be puppies, hehehe!!!), the boss is only about 13 weeks gone, but we may find out at the next scan in about 7 weeks.

I want a girl so I can beat up her boyfreind after he fails to drink me under the table (starting with a case of San Miguel each of course). But the boss want's boy as she say's girls are too much trouble, she should know as after all she is one.

Hi David F,
Read your article on GM Vicente Sanchez in GB's Martial Arts Illustrated today, Great reading, hoped you enjoyed training with him. Met him in 1992 but unfortunately I only had the chance to talk to him over breakfast at the hotel in Manila, got an ivite to train with him on the morning my plane left for England so never got the chance to train.

Met up with GM Jose Mena again in 2000 in Rizel Park and was asked to partake in a small tournament, loved every minute of it and was asked to hand out a few instructors belts for him, again got an invite to train with him again and geuss what? yep, was going home the next day, so going to try to catch up with everyone when I visit next year and it may look as though I may have to stay longer than expected as the wife too has been asked to train in Cebu when we come.

Hope more of your articles will be in MAI, let me know and I will make sure I get a copy.

Thanks Pat. I have been training in lightning scientific with GM Sanchez for the last 4 months I have been here in Manila. He is a very interesting man and has had load of experience. In fact, he was one of the grandmasters with me when I read jkdknifer's posts about gangsters. You can imagine how well that was received!

GM Mena is quite unwell from what I understand. As such, I have not been to see him. You sem to get asked to train when you are leaving Pat.

Maybe I may be here next year when you return. I am coming back for another 3-4 months training.

There will be some more interviews etc coming out in a few magazines (including MAI).I keep you informed.

Cheers.

Hi David,
Glad you are enjoying Lightning Scietific, Done a bit back in 1994, but yeah you are right I do get asked as I am leaving although I do get a lot of training in with many GM's on my visits, some I am looking to train with only seem to turn up on the last day, oh well.

Sorry to hear GM Mena is not well, I hope he gets better, he is great to talk to and has some very interesting stories to tell. If you get the chance ask him about the Japanese Officer during WWII that challenged him.

If you get back to Cebu at any time try training with GM Dan Nalasco, trained with him on my last visit, we actually met in McDonalds, I had been looking for his club since 92 and was told it did not exsist and in 2000 he just appeared at my table asking for me, and before you know it we were training. He has a great approach, also try Loloy Bonifacio Uy, very intersting guy with very interesting methods.

Speak soon

Pat

I Pat,

I have already spent 5 weeks in Cebu and I am planning to head on back down there for 2-4 weeks before I head back to Australia. Maybe I wil also be going to Mindanao and Negros.

The lighning training is great. The great theing with GM Vic Sanchez is that he is in contact with most of the senior students of GM Ben Luna Lema. This has afforded us a great opportunity to see the various seniors the system.

I spent considerable time with GM Mena in 1998 and recorded a lot of his system and stories on video. He has a few of them!

If you have te contact details of GM Dan Nalasco, please PM them to me so I can contact him when I head back to cebu.
