Hey people.

ill just explain the situation, ive been searching for various martial arts classes, and luckily i found a jkd instructor on my street!!!!!

well he teaches jun fan gung fu, and i asked him if there is a grading system.
He told me that there were 5 phases that needed to be completed, and that you can be practicing phase 2 for a lifetime.

Im a guy that needs to see an end point....like a goal if you will (black belt)
cos i need to know if im progressing.

He also told me that jun fan was bruce lees name, is this true?
and also is there a set grading system in jun fan gung fu or are they really phases?

Cheers All
C.D.

dont worry about it leading anywhere, all of us are still trying to find answers

train with him a few times and see if u like him, and what he is teaching.
you will see results and you will know if u are progressing if you stick with it.

i hate saying there is no "ranking" system but there really isnt (but i could be wrong) (but it does depend on your instructor). so to answer ur question, there is no "set" ranking but instructors do sometimes come up with their own.
bruce thought belts were good for holding up pants.

jun fan is bruces name, hence jun fan gung fu

Then you have chosen the wrong art.

JKD is a process not a product.

You should monitor your pogress by internal verification based on how your performance against resisting sparring partners improves, rather than by external verification based on someone giving you a belt, different coloured T-Shirt or a piece of paper to stick on your wall.

Who is this teacher and where does he teach? I may be able to give you some background etc.

Lee Jun Fan was Bruce Lee's original name.
