If you want happiness for an hour -- take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day -- go fishing.

If you want happiness for a year -- inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime -- help someone else.

Why is it the only line I can pick out of her song is the one thats something like: "just because my breasts are small and humble..." and something to do with mountains.

Is this some kind of weird translation from Spanish :love:

Here's a formula for happiness, so it's all black & white :D :

f(x) = mx+b (for x=<[m-n]/[c-b])
f(x) = nx+c (for x>=[m-n]/c-b])

Where:
f(x) = happiness
x = money
b = constant (c>b>0)
m,n = constants (n>m>0)

Oh, and n is very big whilst m is very small.

c is the key here. It varies depending on your friendships, outlook on life, love, etc.

What you get here is a very steep line at first. So that an increase in the amount of money you have results in a large increase in your happiness. This represents your need to have the basic requirements of life (food, water, shelter, etc) and you need money for this. Then you get to a point (x=[m-n]/[c-b] to be exact) where the curve stops, changes to an almost flat gradient (barely rising). The result here is that an equal increase in money will give you only a very small increase in happiness.

On the other hand, if you increase c by improving your friendships, having a family, etc, you cause the point where the gradient changes to shift to the right a little, which has a much greater effect than making more money, unless of course you are not making enough money (ie. x is too low), which could mean you can't afford to take your friends out for dinner or buy your kids nice presents for their birthdays or whatever.

Happiness....... is a cigar called Hamlet.

Happiness is what stupid people have.

Line from a movie or tv show but I haven't a scooby as to which "Show me the man who is truly content; and I'll show you the labotomy scar"

look at these fools striving for happiness...
it's almost sad.
the cords of passion and desire weave a blinding net through you all. worldly confrontation makes you stiff and unflexible. the trap of duality is tenacious. bound, rigid, and trapped, you can not experience liberation.

loving, hating, having expectations: all these are attachments. Attachment prevents the growth of one's true being.

<worldly confrontation makes you stiff and unflexible.>
NO worldly confrontation gives u a choice to grow out... it's u who choose to stiff and unflexible.

we always blame all the materialistic desires as "Attachment".
wat the hell wrong "Attachment" did? attachment is just a name for the excuse which u chose to specify ur choice.

ZenTigerClaw, I m born in a hindu family n brought up around Islam and Christanism religions, n later i got involved with Bhudhissm and other religions too. i don't think religion as a "means to an end",
when u say Am I oppsoing the Bhudhism?
my answer is Yes and No. both.
Yes because i understand wat's attachment, but one is still attached even if he wants to let go of attachment.
so my comment about chosing the excuse.

NO because i m talking about growing out of it rather than avoiding(??) which in the ends is almost the same thing...

that's why i m asking wat's so wrong about attachment?

it probably depends who you are...
i was christian, but now i am buddhist. but i don't worship buddha, i just follow his principles. i have my understanding that religion is made to keep people happy, but religion has evolved over however long and is now filled with perceptions and false truths, made solely to give people a (preferably) easy way out.
i also believe that the hard truth about opposites (yin and yang) is that they are there. withought one there can not be the other. it wouldn't exist. that's why we need war and conflict. that's why we need pain and sorrow. and that's what religion strives to {manipulate?} by attaching themselves to peace, harmony, gods and spirits. and when they have attached themselves, they mourn when they don't have it. they lust after it and envy people who have it. get my point?

LoL yea i got it...
u know wat if i tell u that i was thinking almost along that lines u won't beleive me :D (i said the same things along that lines in my earlier posts here on Religion n all).
u do talk like me and think like me. :) ;)

nice having discussion with and looking forward for good discussions..
