On this link they talk of Cinco Terros in the Giron style.

Actually many arnis systems claim they use the five strike system. I am doing some research to find the history of the original Cinco Terros ... Some peoples say it comes from Illocos other from Mindanao, this is very confusing...

In Giron Arnis exist two different types of Cinco Teros, one of them are the first strikes from the twelve strikes of De Fondo style. The other Cinco Teros came from another style, but I donīt remember the style (cada-anan or cabaroan, I think). Iīm newbie at GA but in my instructor work-group we train a lot of different drills with the second Cinco Teros pattern and coconut footwork, with single stick (different types), knive, empty hand, ...

Kind regards,
Enrique.

P.S.Excuse my bad english explanations

I did it for about a year and enjoyed it but it is very layered. Meaning there are many variations on a particular theme (attack angle). Giron's Largo Mano is recognized as the hallmark of the system.

GM Giron was a genuine American hero in WWII, he was a great ambassador for his art and his lineage is in good hands with Tony Somera in Stockton, California. His bio is a great read.

One thing that stands out is the length of thier stick, 36".

The length of the stick depends on the style played, for example the Larga Mano stick is the longer than De Fondo.
Crucible, do you recibe my PM?

Yep, I replied this morning. The size of the stick may depend on the style played but it was very common in the Northern California/ Stockton tournament scene for Bahalana players to compete with 36" sticks. As opposed to some of the other players 28", or Angels Disciples Escrima Serrada Assoc. 22-28". There's a good interview on the Angel's Disciples webpage regarding tournaments in Northern California during the early to mid 90's. They give good praise to Bahalana, check under "Sports Escrima",and then "Tournaments".
