i gotta question
i see so many people drinkin energy drinks like red bull an lucozade all the time.
is it not possible the when you drink so much of it you get well not addicted but kind of prone to need it to stay awake?
and
when you dont drink it - you tired alot?
these might be silly questions to some people but i just wanna know the story on em.
Cheers

No, you get addicted, that's all there is to it. At least you can get hooked on Red Bull, couldn't comment on Lucozade since I don't drink much of it.
Actually its not so much getting hooked on the Red Bull as on the caffeine, and yes, you do get tired, but that's generally because you drink enough caffeine that you find it hard to sleep, so you need to drink more caffeine the next day in order to stay awake, and so on.
Drink enough and you start thinking and seeing some strange things.

Don't think lucozade's got caffeine in it.

I was told that one of the best energy drinks you can use is water mixed with pure apple juice...

I really like orange Lucozade. It might have something to do with having a Lucozade machine at our dojo :)
In my opinion, Red Bull only any good as a mixer for vodka. I wouldn't drink it before training, its too sweet and sickly.
What do you think of the claims that Lucozade can help you train for 33% longer?

Don't mix alcohol with red bull - fatal.
It's the taurine in the drinks that give you energy. One or two cans won't really affect you all that much - 8 cans will make you jittery and give you enough energy to dance all night long but you will just die in the arse on the way home.
I think they are more a catalyst for the enregy you produce yourself, they just kick start it for you.
You feel tired as such, you just feel like **** in the morning - dry mouth with a wierd taste in it. Your sleep is also affected its like going into a coma.
I have them every now and then just to wake me up some. Having 6 bottles a night just makes you feel like crap.
Thats the thing with Red Bull, you can dance all night but when you're still hyper at 5am and you need to get up at 7am, they're not so great and you feel like crap when you wake up.
I wouldn't drink 8 cans of it, I'm enough trouble to deal with after having a couple!

LOL! I bet the same person would have told you that you don't need protein supplements either- just eat meat. LOL!
Was this a regular dietitian or a dietitian trained specifically for sports performance?
