Bound to stir up controversy! :D

In the mid to late 90's is was most probably Rickson or Royce, now do you think Royler and Renzo could beat on there kin?

Thought guys? ;)

OOOH! Good one!

I still pick Rickson, but I consider him something of an anomaly - he is so damn good!

As for the others, probably Royler would be my choice. Royce is still my favourite though because I have met him and he is perhaps the nicest, most placid MA'er I have seen. Also he has no "thug" element to his game.

Still Rickson IMO. Mainly because the rest of the family still seem to think so. Or more a case of - none of them has had the sphericals to say otherwise :D

I think most people will say Rickson out of all of them. The guy was/is awesome. Anyone seen the choke video?

Should I get that famous Choke video?
I want to see him fight not much talking. Does the video have some Rickson's fights or advices?

How about Royler?

He won ADCC 3 times, and is a great sub grappler.

I think it was Todd Hester who once said that he saw Royce and Royler rolling with Rickson tring to choke him AT THE SAME TIME. They were not able to do so. Impressive enough, but apprently Rickson used NO HANDS!

The man is not human I tell you... :)

There are lots of Rickson stories out there. My instructor was at his gym when he was giving a seminar for BJJ black belts only, about 20 of them - and at the end he rolled with all of them one after another - with his hands tucked into his belt - and tapped them all out. LOL!

Ah yes, and he is undefeated in 400 fights, he has, in fact, never had to tap in his entire life! He must really be the man, huh?

Capaloca> The choke video has lots of footage of the guys training and rolling and about 20 mins of fights at the end, well worth the £6.49 its going for on Amazon right now!

That record of his is ********. He counts every one of his sparring sessions in this little "record" of his. Apparently he DID tap to Rolls Gracie though before he died. Undefeated my ASS, just liek everyone else, he had to learn the art, and that means getting tapped.

I think that wasn't an official match between Rickson and Rolls, possibly like a closed door match like I guess he counts the closed door matches also...

Mikelw> Please don't swear, even if the swear blockers catch it, this is still not tolerable behavior.

I always thought the 400 wins undefeated thing was a big porkie.

I think it is possible if you count every BJJ tournament he has entered - One tournament can mean anything up to 10 matches a day. I also have a suspicion that the 400+ undefeated is true - but that there were some BEFORE the 400 where he may have tapped

He is still "the man" in my eyes though (cue incoherent "who's the man" rambling from Dale "Apollo" Cook!)

Carlos , Helio , Carlson , Rolls Then Rickson

i agree with this. it was rather unfortunate that rolls died early.

I would have to still give it to Rickson, then followed by Royler. I also rolled with Ralph, and he was TOUGH AS NAILS AND NAPALM.
