You tend to pick them up fairly quickly, except for the foreign ones.

yeah most of the time someone will give a quite detailed description of the technique.

I tend to try to link the name to pain involved in the technique this throw will coincide with really insane, death throw in my mind, along with the training attack and what to expect.
This usually takes about two to three sessions of the technique group (train a whole bunch of throws and have most linked after three).

When I first started training I bought every book under the sun about the methods and descriptions in English and Japanese and then taught myself as per each move. I find it easier to learn the appropriate words whilst learning the new movement. For instance, like doing a whole kata. Just a suggestion. :)

For the first few weeks I had my katas written down on a piece of paper, along with the names of the kicks, in fact sometimes I used to take my book with me to class and ask m instructor to assist me in taking notes, but after sometime I began picking up new words really fast.

Time takes care of everything, my instructor used to say....the more time it take, the more u think, the more u progress, and the more it is better for u

no disrespect to the guy i was wiv
but like ste said its holding the pads aswell
i noticed that he struggled holdin the pads abit which i couple of times made me mess up a little - i tried to help but no success
its not just on saturday either its in kickboxin aswell
im not sayin im like perfect at holdin them coz im not
but it helps alot when they are help proper

im gonna be cheaky now but
i think we could benefit from sometime in class if we have like a little on how to hold the pads better
its just an idea.
