Anyone know why the Pope and the other priests in the Vatican wear a hat that looks like the Jewish hat?
There's also the 'where', 'when', 'how' and 'where' questions related to said hat (of which I don't know the name).
Thanks

The scull cap worn by Catholic clergy is called the zucchetto (It.). It is similar in appearance, but not identical, to the yarmulke, which Jewish men are required to wear during any sacred ceremonies or in a sacred place.

What difference does it make really?

Cool bit of info JohnnyX. I should have realised it was awfully coincidental that the zucchetto was exact place and size of a traditional tonsure. Hmmm...the things we just accept without ever asking why.

Sorry, didn't mean any disrespect, I'm just curious about the question. :)

Of course Kwaj didn't mean any disrespect! :) He is too much of a sweetheart for that! Although you can't blame him, there are a lot of people who post innocent questions spoiling for a fight - maybe he was just trying to nip that in the bud in case anyone started to get silly and use this as an opportunity to catholic/pope bash. (sorry if I am ascribing wrong motivations to you Kwaj!)

Many thanks JohnnyX,
I knew the Mappers would come through! It's a constant quest of mine I suppose to find out how we arrived as we have today in today's world (Religion being the driving force of previous millenia) and that was one question - now with a blatantly obvious answer - that popped into my head a day or two ago.
Thanks again
Tim
