So, you are a Wanderlei fan??? OK

I also watch Pride fights and on our national TV there are fights to be seen every Saturday. What do you think about CRO COP? What about Minotauro?

Tell me you are joking! You don't know who Minotauro is? Crocop has so far lost only 1 fight and that was against Minotauro for the title. Maybe that rings a bell?!

actually, it was for the "interim" title. fedor is the champion, and will continue to be the champion after this tournament.

and mino is, IMO, the second best HW in the world. crocop is great, but he's about on par with tank abbott when it goes to the ground.

p.s. wanderlei is not a HW, if that's what you were thinking.

Pride is in 2 weeks and there are still no matches announce. Naoya Ogawa and Silva are big money names but to MMA hardcore fans they mean nothing because we all know they will get killed. This year's tournament is looking like a real disappointment.

randleman says he's fighting crocop, and coleman said he's fighting fedor first round. that's all i can remember as of now, i seem to recall mino having a "bye" this round, though...

Fedor/Coleman could be good. I can see Cole pulling the upset.

I heard that at the elimination round there will be a new guy that the MMA invited his name is Sentoryu and he is a Sumo Wrestler

ehh, mark is capable of it, but i can't see pride letting it happen. they will not let him play his lay and pray game in the GP, i don't think they can afford to have fedor out in the first round.

Pride announces first 8 fighters for 16-man heavyweight Grand Prix

Pride Fighting Championships has just issued a press release announcing eight of the sixteen participants for the 2004 heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. Last year, the company put on possibly the toughest -- and finest -- tournament in mixed martial arts history. An eight-man middleweight (205 pound) Grand Prix tournament was held and saw Wanderlei Silva defeat Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in the final. The semifinals and final of the show, which took place on November 9 at the Tokyo Dome, under the title "Final Elimination" was a massive financial and critical success, and from top-to-bottom was easily the best pay-per-view show of the year in either MMA, wrestling or boxing.

what do u think guys about Leko? Is he strong or skilled enought to fight the others by Pride rules? In K-1 he managed it several times to the finals but never won the title.

i've never seen leko on the ground of course, but i don't thik he has much of a chance. everyone in this tourney is more experienced than him, and i imagine if a lot of fights end with decisions, it will be crocop, mino, fedor, and a japanese guy in the finals...because, well, it's pride.

When it comes to Leko, I agree, but he is ambitious so let's give the guy a chance. I'd love to see him fight CRO COP though. Now I'm being a bit nasty :D because once during an interview he was asked to state his opinion about CRO COP (since they come from the same country) and whether or not he would fight him. Leko said that he respected him a lot and that he would fight him any time. It's not that he could win CRO COP, no way, but still I'd like to see Leko's reaction and his moves.

BTW Who's training Leko now?

I really think that Heath Herring is going to do good to, and maybe Giant Silva will surprise everyone when he finally picks a fighting style.

I like the knees and kicks to a downed opponent. Add elbows and it's perfect.

I also prefer ring to the cage.

i love how their talent pool is much deeper than UFC's, but they still generally just feed mediocre fighters to crocop.

p.s. no one stands a chance against a fresh fedor in this tournament. unless minotauro doesn't try to sub him from the guard...
