Mines Jet Li's Fist of Legend. Fantastic film, its a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. Loads of amazing fight scenes choreographed by the guy that did the Matrix fight scenes. And Jet does some Bruce Lee JKD style fighting in bits.

Hate to say it (its a French film) but I did like Brotherhood of the Wolf. Might just be my whole fascination with the gothic/punk thing though.

CKD - Brotherhood of the Wolf is f***ing brilliant. I thinks its one of the best films I've seen in ages. A few diodgy CGI moments with the beast though. Dacascos is an awesome martial actor.
However I would have ot say that my favourite MA film at the moment is Iron Monkey. Just awesome.
Of course there's nothing quite like settling down to watch Enter the Dragon for the gazillionth time...
Its about time a decent re-make of Game of Death was filmed don't you think?

Personally I have to say "Rumble in the Bronx"
I can't help it if a laugh my ass off every time Jackie get a beating from 2+ guys.
At least in most a Jackies film he takes a massIVE amount of punishment before gaining the upper hand!! :D

Bourne Identity, Blade 2.

27-Feb-2003, 10:00 AM
Hey Cougar, I saw Bourne Identity the other night and was pretty impressed. Normally I hate Matt Damon but he was ok. Certainly this version was better than the 70/80s version which sucked. My main problems with the film are that there is no suspense about who he is (i.e. because the second scene is at CIA headquaters therefore its obvious) and that there weren't enough fight scenes. What there was looked pretty good... still there are two more books in the series so maybe we can look forward to some more films.
I hear the next film to look out for is called The Hunted and stars Tommy Lee Jones and whatshisface del Toro. The fight scenes are suposed to contain a lot of knife work and were advised by some Sayoc guys so it shoudl have some Filipino flavour!

I saw a film about 15 years ago called "Enter the Ninja" that was amazing. But I would have to say "American Ninja 2" is the best martial arts film. And Third would be "Kickboxer 3"

I liked game of death, that was a good movie.....
I also watch the InuYasha movies and TV series but those are anime so it doesn't really count I guess.
Fist of fury was awesome too. I was not impressed with crouching tiger hidden dragon...the whole flying thing just seemed a bit queer.:woo:
Enter the dragon is good too.... I don't like mortal combat because it seems kind of fictional and kind of made me want to barf...well I am done talking now...bye.

I always liked Chuck Norris in "The Octagon." Richard Norton as the Red Ninja was a total badass. Cheesy as hell with the whole inner monologue, but so good. It is worth seeing just to watch Master Tadashi Yamashita work the kamas.

The young master fan scene. It looks impossible but it did take over 500 takes to get the double spin. I like the way that Jackie can take a beating, unlike in most films

u said that was your favorite martial arts movie. It's mine too. I think the display of the implimentation of korean martial arts into the western world was really a big barrier. U can see it in the showing of both teams' training sessions. The koreans still use the ancient methods and the americans use more of a modern training style with good equipment.
Killer soundtrack too. I loved "Something so Strong" by jim capaldi. also, if you have the VHS there's something i'd like to point out to you. A couple days ago i was watching the movie and at the end of the credits something else came on screen. It was a music video for the movie with the main theme in the background. I never even saw it b4 then! check it out if u got it. it's pretty cool.
About the sequels, 3 and 4 are complete crap. I've seen and own all of them and the latter two are really stupid. They don't have any real story and the martial arts are unrealistic. Best of the Best 2 however is a completely different story. The second one kicks major ass. I liked it more than the first one even. Tommy, Alex, and Travis all make a comeback and there's also some cameos by Dae Han and some of the korean team members. It basically ups the scale on all of the first movie. The fights are more desperate, and the scenes toward the end really kick some major TKD ass. if you havent seen part 2, go on ebay and buy it... NOW! especially if you liked the 1st one.
Anyways, botb is one of my fav. martial arts movies also. Peace:cool:

I think his best film (Done by himself) Way of the dragon and the nunchuku fight in Game of death was impressive and funny with the taunts :-P

Are samurai films allowed? Because, if so, Yojimbo and Seven Samarai are the greatest samurai films, if not the greatest movies ever.
If talkin martial arts, Snake in Eagle's shadow is one of my favorites, along with 36 fists. For laughs, Ill pick up the master or the last dragon ( so many mullets!) Once upon a time in china seriesi also pretty nice ( although the third wasn't as great as 1 and 2)...

Love Bruce Lee films but prefer JC slightly due to the comedy element. A particular fav is Rumble in the Bronx.
Favourite Bruce films: Enter the Dragon; Game of Death; Return of the Dragon; + most of his others
JC favs are: RITB; Police Story; Gorgeous; Who Am I, Thunderbolt, Mr Nice Guy
Jet Li’s also good. Liked the Defender and Romeo Must Die – great fights
I have too favourite MA films to make a numbered list.
On a different note, did any of you know that Jackie hates all of his US films? The best ones have to be the 2 Shangai films.
Stalinseviltwin
09-Aug-2003, 02:47 AM
I would definately geuss that he hates most of his u.s. movies. He probably see's that he's no longer being seen for his abilities, more now for the comedic element ( him doing strange things that noone would expect, great......)
When people would rather watch Rush hour instead of half a loaf of kung fu and the like, thats a sad state..

My equal faves are JC in Fearless Hyena and Drunken Master. Close thrid is Hand of Death with JC co-starring with a few others rather than leading.
